i am probably going there next year, anyone know which dorms are best? heard gamma and beta are the shit. anything else i need to know? any info appreciated
ya anything on the ridge is pretty cool, becides alpha and highlands. If you want a community bathroom and coed floors, go to Delta. If you want to share a bathroom with 7 guys, go to beta or gamma.
i live in a half-stack in gamma with 3 other guys. it's a pretty tight set-up, but i only moved into it winter quarter so i'm not sure if you can apply for it. overall, i definitely have no complaints of beta/gamma.
i lived in fairhaven for fall and winter quarter, and besides having a small fucking room, it was great. on the other hand, i would stay away from fairhaven if you dont like trees...
there are kitchen units that stacks share in buchannon towers i believe. other than that, i think there are small kitchen areas in most dorm lounges, at least on the ridge.
but i went to western preview today and damn western is such a sick school. beta and gamma are sick, and mathes is pretty nice too. everything is so prime, especially your guys pool/basketball/rock climbing area, and holy shit, sooo many hot girls.
there's tons of hippies and whatnot up here, but what they dont tell u is that there are tons of jesus freaks too. ive been approached no less than 4 or 5 times this year in the viking by people asking me if i was christian or if i wanted to talk about god or how i thought the universe began. when i was in nash hall freshman year, i dont know if this is a deisgnated jesus hall or what, but i would say 60% of people i met are SUPER religious there, saying they'll pray for u and stuff and all that. plus there's a huge CORE or christian fellowship thing in the dorms there, so maybe that had something to do with it. so if you're into that sorta thing then western is definetly not a bad place for it as its reputation assumes so
you're talking about the people who stand around with sandwich boards, and pass out material about jesus? those people are at literally every college in the US, and do not represent a high amount of "jesus freaks." half the time those people don't even attend the school.
no, hes right, there are a suprising amount of sheltered christian kids at western. every substance free dorm is filled with em, and they can be pretty hilarious at times. i lived in a substance free stack in fairhaven and my entire floor besides my roomate and one chill girl was like that. one night i came in staggeringly drunk with a crunchwrap in my right hand and proceded to tell them all how they were the coolest straight edge people i had ever met like 5 times before falling over laughing at how badly i was slurring. then the two girls from the party i was at, who wanted to get high came in and we went and took bong rips in my room. the chick that i didnt intend to fuck got sick and puked on my floor so we ended up taking care of her instead of having sex. but yeah i definately got along with and asked everyone on that floor if they wanted to blaze all the time and they never turned me in or anything so they were cool.
substance free stacks in fairhaven, hahaha yeah...
hahaha nice. i hear fairhaven is a great place for smoking...rooms & proximity to the arboretum and woods.
at nash i got so goddamn sick of making a sploof everytime i wanted to smoke in my room that i'd have to go out in the stairwell balconies late at night.
if you want to know more about the Christian organizations on campus, you should message danS. He is the Western Christian from Chilhood Chapter Counseler for Christ.
I stayed in the ridge dorms for LAX camp, cause I'm not college age yet or anything, but they are pretty good. Food's alright at the cafeteria, I hear its worse in the school year so whatever. Fairhaven dorms seem like the best...
