christopher paolini (wrote eragon) jacked the plot of star wars like it was an unlocked porsche in the south side of chicago. so, even though i enjoyed the books, i noticed he is a fairly talentless writer that can't really develop characters or a plot without rehashing elements of other books and movies

rainbow 6 by tom clancy. seriously one of the best books i've ever read. its like 900 pages but you won't want to put it down. if you finish that one and love it, the precurser to it is Without Remorse. less blood and guts more coming of age tale. still those two books are just amazing

Ender's Game is outstanding, also get Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon.. they're related but not sequels, the actual sequels are kind of obscure and shitty but those ones are some of the best I've read.

The Art of Manliness if you want some light but hysterical stuff.

I'm glad you suggested this book but I think that ...And the Truth Shall Set You Free by him is better, especially since it has a new edition of it that was revised. David Icke has some really interesting ideas.



Here's two books that haven't been mentioned yet:

Good Omens - One of my favorite books of all time. A spoof on the apocalypse where the antichrist is born to the wrong family, the angel and demon that are supposed to help bring upon the apocalypse decide they don't want the human race to perish and all cassette tapes left in the demon's car overnight automatically turn into Queen's Greatest Hits.

American Gods - Main character, Shadow, gets let out of jail early because his wife dies in a car crash. Shadow meets and old man, decided to follow the old man around. The Old man turns out to be very mysterious/magical and ultimately a god known as the "all-god". Old man/all-god takes Shadow around the U.S. rounding up his fellow god allies to wage a secret war against the gods of modern society such as TV, Internet, and Credit Cards. It sounds really weird but it's one of the more riveting books I've read in a a while.

i just read watchmen. i hated the movie but the comic book was awesome, it is visual impressive, and moore uses soo many cultural refrences, that its a really crazy blending of high and low lit. it was really good.

Read The Vampire Earth series. They aren't the gay type of vampires in twilight. It's earth getting taken over by things that can suck this stuff out of you so they extend their lives and it follows this guy called David Valentine who is super fucking cool and he mega skills and shit and yeah. You've got to read it. It's great

Since 2007

I read the entire Dark tower series from Stephen King. Highly recommended (The gunsinger chronicles which ties many of his other books into one grand story) 7 books in all 3500 pages If you like books be sure to get the hardcovered Graphic novels. A masterpiece.

The beach-Alex Garland the ending is way different than the movie :S haha

Alright, books...

Recently been reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac. Its so sick, but it'll make you depressed that you live in the 21st century and can't hitchhike across the country and do whatever the fuck you want

Book called Know It All, its a memoir about a guy who tried to read all 24 editions of the encyclopedia britannica so that he'd know EVERYTHING, its super funny

JPod is hilarious

Vonnegut is a dope author, read whatever you want by him

Chuck Pahlniuk, guy who did fight club, is pretty good. He's written some pretty shitty books, but i thought Rant was sick

If you like fantasy (which you should), you should read the mistborn series by brandon sanderson. probably one of the dopest things i've ever read

also, if you want to waste like a year of your life, read the whole wheel of time series. You'll hate robert jordan with a passion but god damnit you won't want to stop



so ya, there's some books, they're pretty cool

The way of the peaceful warrior by Dan Millman takes the cake though. I've never read a book so fast in my life. Honestly, all three of those books will change your life.

good thread, ive been looking for some new reads. I also will suggest Freakanomics. its crazy good, talks about abortions, hookers, crack dealing, parenting, etc. and youll learn something too.

Another AWESOME, and very thought inspiring book that i just finished is the Red Queen, Sex and the evolution of human nature. if your at all interested in evolution, you will love this book. i really couldnt put it down. its a bit scientific at times, but god damn is it interesting.

I dont reaad alot of novels, so i cant suggest many of those. but im def. gonna hit this back up in my threads when i finish what im reading now.
