Where to ski in Wisconsin

I want to drive up to Wisconsin from Chicago tomorrow to teach two friends to ski. The problem is I can't decide where I should go. I heard that Tyrol Basin is a good place to learn and has a nice park but my friends think it's too small, so I'm looking at Devils Head and Cascade. I heard Devils Head sort of sucks and Cascade is supposed to be crowded tomorrow because of a competition. Any suggestions?

not cascade.
i would say tyrol. im going there tomorrow myself. the park is siq and theyve got the biggest pipe in the midwest.
i like devils head. the park is fine. the lifts are super slow though and they always groom half way through the day.
but yeah tyrol. its great. theyve got 3 terrain parks.

I'd say Sunburst, but he the main park groomer is gone this weekend so I don't know how good everything will be groomed out. You may actually want to try Alpine Valley, supposedly they had a USASA snowboard comp there today and were suppose to redesign their park just for that event.
Whereever you go the weather should be sweet tomorrow.

Mt. Bohemia in the UP of Michigan. You got to check it out. It is all backcountry skiing. I know I know you are saying in MI? It has the highest vertical drop in the midwest, 200 ft. higher then granite peak. All blacks and double blacks, nothing is groomed, lots of tree skiing. Average of 270 in of snow a year. There is no park but tons of cliffs and other drops. Super fun!!! the website is mtbohemia.com

I ended up going to Cascade today. I personally thought it was pretty boring because I usually ski Colorado, but I had fun times with my friends who are still fairly new to skiing. Their park was pretty decent too. Crowds weren't too bad either.

Seriously though, Sunburst's park sucks ass. Snowboarders make huge ruts in all the takeoffs and landings, plus the park manager doesn't know how to make a decent course, not to mention we're dealing with only 100ft or less vertical drop. :\
Only reason I have a pass there is because it's closest.

He said he was from Chicago and planning on skiing with beginners. Why would he go 8 hours to throw them into blacks and double-blacks?
All that aside, I can't wait to ski Bohemia next year when I'm up at Michigan Tech for college.
All times are Eastern (-5)
