when i was in the airport (here in toronto), i was in a restaurant and i saw a bunch of journalists. they were talking about sars. from what i overheard, they were desperate to blow this situation out of proportion. it was late at night, and we were pretty much the only ones in the restaurant. a janitor was cleaning up and the journalists approached him, asked him if he would put on a mask that they had, and continued to take his picture. i was discusted. because of people like that, this gets blown out of proportion. i fuckin wanted to kill those damn journalists.

i go to the same school as seward and there are definitely no people with sars there either...so stop freaking out and thinking you are going to get sars if you come to canada, especially toronto

I was at Pearson in the heat of that first SARS thing, no one was wearing masks, the media is just rediculous. They blow all this shit soo out of proportion, sort of like the mad cow thing, one cow died in February from it, now everyone is going ape shit over it. But ya, they news has to have a story or they wont sell any papers, well SARS is their big hit right now.

It's all well and good that the Canadian economy is doing well compared to the US but if this continues it really will hurt Canada in some ways. Yes our dollar is going up. Big Deal. That just means that our exporters are making less money. And of course the US is our biggest trading partner by far. If they continue to spiral downwards it won't just affect us up here in Canada, but everywhere all over the world.
There are some pretty good reasons why the US economy is going down too. If Canada dumped tens of billions of dollars into a war, we'd probably feel the effects too. I'm not justifying the war, hell I don't even agree with it at all, but there are reason that our economies are going the way they are.
To applaud the failings of the US economy at this point isn't in Canada's best interest (both economically and politically - can you say more trade tarrifs?). I don't understand why people are so happy that the US is doing poorly.
Anyways, thats my two cents.

um no. i doubt the US is headed for the toilet. its just a small correction. HOWEVER the rest of the world is slowly beginning to realize that canada has a mangeable debt load (unlike the US) and canada controls huge resrves of oil, gas, metals, coal, grain, meat, clean water etc. etc. all under a stable government. moreover (unlike the US) canada uses less of these commodities than it produces. in other words, although somewhat small, canada has a vibrant economy. Not that I give a fuck, I think the very notion of 'countries' itself is stupid and unnesessary.
