it only occured to me because there's a "back to thread listing" and a "back to forum" or something but no "back to top".  just seemed like something standard for a forum based website full of lazy skiers such as NS.

theres no real need. If your at the bottem of a thread then your either gona reply or go back to the thread listing. If for some reason you want to go back up the page to re-read some text then chances are its at a certian part of the page and not right at the top. Really its just a unnessary feature
