i think the mad trix are heavy but the trade off is a better all round mountain ski with less chatter. the 1080's are good but they could be a little stiffer i find. but the mad trix are a little pricy

I ski on the 177cm 1080's and they are a good all around ski. Great in the park and they hold up pretty well in icy northeast conditions

i would personally go with the 1080's

i think the madtrix are more stiff than the 1080's and they're definitely more twinned (the back is the same as the front). I ski on the 10's and they're good though.

My friend owns a pair of Mad Trix, I own 1080s... Mine are definatly lighter even though I have a fairly heavy binding on them (S810s), He skis with the system and definatly has a disadvantage in the park because of less flex and more weight. He skis on the system btw...

Get 1080's because next years model are gonna be a lot stiffer than this years. They'll be the best.

i ride the madtrix with the system. i love them and here's the deal.

1. the system binding makes the madtrix little bit on the heavy side. the good point to this is that it keeps you from going off axis where you have no intentions to. also, you get more of a 'spin-push' when going over 360 spins. the down side is that it is heavy to carry with you.

2. one tip is marked Big Mountain and the other Big Air. now, the tip marked Big Mountain is softer the the tip marked Big Air. it helps you with carving on normal slopes. now, when the binding is set to Big Air, now the tail (Big Mountain tip) side is the soft part. it helps you out alot from landing big airs. it's softness absorbs the shock and gives you a comfortable landing. the stiffness in the Big Air tip will give you more of a push when hitting the ramp, thus giving you a more push to the air. good stuff!

3. system binding. when it is pointing in the direction of the Big Air tip, it is centered on the ski. when the binding is facing the direction of Big Mountain tip, the binding is backened a little to the back of the ski center. very, very effective and good.

4. durability. yes, the system binding works without hassle. it's great! Head says that it is indestructable and i believe so.

oh, btw phattTim, since u and i both use the MadTrix(with the system for me), try turning your one of the madtrix ski binding to the Big Air mode and the other to the Big Mountain mode and compare the binding stance on the skis side by side. you'll know the difference.

and for my answer to this post, definately the MadTrix with the system binding. for me, the 1080's have been around too long with the same name. boring... it's a good ski, but there are better skis out there nowadays.

The only way you could get me to switch from 1080's would be to pry them from my cold, dead hands... I had them last year, they got stolen, I got rossi's, they fuckin sucked. Back to 1080's.
