i dont remember his name, but i just saw it on the news..

some hiker dude got his arm caught under a boulder, and he stayed like that for like 2 days, and he thought no one would come, so, he cut his arm off so he could live, he started walking back to civilization, and he was seen by a helicopter, he is fuckin alive, thats nuts. he is a really good hiker guy, and experienced, so he didnt just do this to be a idiot, wow.

he is from Aspen where i live...he was okay too. he made the paramedics let him walk into the hospital on his own power...i would be dead from how much blood i lost...

were they able to reatach his arm, (i dont know how long he went after he cut it off) did he carry his other arm down the mountain? that would be odd to see.

i dont think he would have cut of his arm if he could carry it down. It got crushed and pinned by a boulder im pretty sure that it was all fucked up and broken. Latter though the search and rescue people went to retrieve his arm i guess.

naw, i was just playing. I know plenty of smart guys. I'd never have the guts to cut my arm off with a pocket knife. Was it like a tiny ones or one of those ones that have like saws and crap on it?

he was able to cut thro his arm because all the bones were crushed by the boulder. All he had to do was cut the muscle/tendons/ligaments. When the search party went back to get his arm it was to badly damaged not to mention stuck under a 1000lbs boulder adn they couldnt retrieve it. He tied his own turinquite (sp??) himself around it and he was supposedly soaked in blood from chest to foot. that was what was reported in the Toronto Star/Globe today.

Shit man, I heard about that today and was just gonna post about it. I think cutting your own arm off would be wierd but at least you could just do it and itd be over. THis would be so painful and horrible. However, not to undermine the craziness or bravenesss of this man and story, but his arm would have probably been pretty much non existant anymore, it wouldnt be a big dedal to cut a little bit off. Its not like he saw his whole arm and juust cut it off. He saw some bloody hulk that was attack by ligaments to some thing in the rock, which was already crazyly doomed, so he jujst severed the remaining tendons and ligaments. Still craazy just not quite as much.
