Seperating the comor and pacific boarder on 4th.


Better move IMO would be the stores be attached (open walled), and the comor be exclusively skiing. Move the Pacific boarder girls to the east side of the building, and set the boarding in the middle. That way the clothing could all blend together.


It set the surf/ski/board/skate scene closer together, and no it is farther apart.

problem with that is...

-the average ski customer considered pacific boarder a board shop that carried skis as opposed to an actual ski shop, and wasnt as comfortable buying skis there as opposed to say the downtown comor, or even westside when they were there. knocking down a wall wouldnt have changed that, because all you'd be doing is spending a shitload of money to essentially expand and change the layout of pacific boarder.

-when pacific boarder was carrying skis, they werent allowed to carry certain skate or board clothing/hardgoods lines, because a lot of those companies refuse to sell to shops that carry skis (so dont accuse comor of being the ones who set the surf/ski/board/skate scene further apart). with the stores being totally seperate, they can now carry those lines, and become more of a 'core' board shop.

-comor is seen as a ski AND snowboard shop, cuz that's what it is and always has been. so had the new comor been ski-specific, if a snowboarder walked in there and asked, 'where's the boards?' and the staff said, 'next door @ pb,' the customer would have been just as likely to cross the street to westbeach if the light was green.

-plus, it was felt on some level that the average comor snowboard customer (which is predominantly family-oriented or asian exchange students...the hardcores go to pb or the boardroom or westbeach) might not have been as comfortable shopping at pb with the 'core' vibe, and it showed, as certain ski-company snowboard brands (salomon, atomic, k2, etc) werent selling that well there, so why not put boards in the new store? you're basically saying no to sales and therefore money if you dont.


I'll be the first to say (and I was) that it would have been great if the new store was ski-specific, but contrary to popular belief in this thread, it was never going to be. And those are definetly good reasons why.

So guys what do you think we need to see before we can say that comor on 4th is just as good as downtowns?? This is the way I see it. The store has been open for just about a month now. I definately takes time to get the kinks out of running a new store. Downtown has been there forever and of course they have their shit together and some of the guys have been working there for a while so they know the ins and outs. Quoting bullshit prices isn't cool but Id say cut these people some slack if they need to look up something to double check.

the comor downtown is going to have to move soon because the building manager (my moms bf) found somthing eles to put there thats not even a store SOOO GAY

p.s. this is kinda sketchy cause my mom told me about it on the way to skiing today and she dosnt know any details
