Replying to PS2 online - i need help

ok, so I'm trying to figure out how to get my stupid ps2 to work for online play. I have one of the slim ps2's, I've got it all hooked up to the computer and shit, and i've tried everything.

I've gotten as far as the dnas authentation screen, but then it doesn't connect and keeps saying "no response from dns" I tried to find help at sony and it's all fucked there, something somewhere told me to restart my modem - would that help? how do i do that exactly? I just wanna play online. technology is so darn confusing.
