sox are so not making it to the wild card. i was down in boston two weekends ago when they were playing the royals and had the opportunity to meet Ortiz, Varitek and Youkilis because I knew one of the ambassadors that works at the park. i gotta say they were some of the coolest most chill guys I've ever met. I expected them to be acting like the all high and mighty because they get paid oodles of cash but completely different. They were guys you could have a beer with.
only if you have a decent team. I didn't give a shit about baseball and then all of a sudden the tigers are doing amazing and I watch every game. I'm a total bandwagon fan.
the fact that the foundation of the team collapsed after the allstar break this year, and the fact that the yankees bagged the penanant have nothing to do with the fact that david ortiz is an amazing baseball player, and i think he deserves MVP, over jeter, over arod last year... he is more cluth than most any hitter producing in baseball right now.
He has won his fair share of games this year for the Sox, but how can an MVP come from a team that has been so horrible over the past few months? Historically speaking, the MVP usually goes to a fielder from a team that finishes in first place.
"he is more clutch than most any hitter producing in baseball right now" haha are you kidding me? Maybe back in July, but he has not done much clutch hitting for his team as of late. And if you call breaking the Sox club HR record clutch than you are lacking baseball knowledge. Clutch is winning games to get your team into the playoffs, which is something that the Sox will not be able to accomplish until 2007 if they are lucky.
Props to Papi for all the HR's he's hit this year though, but he will not win the MVP.
actually the MLB MVP award is choosen by the BWAA and they use a voting method where each voter ranks players with a points system. i do stats and trust me david ortiz is absolutely clutch, his hits come at the right times. whether the past month or two (which a lot of games he didn't partake in) have been not so clutch, he does and always has won games, he is the master of go-ahead runs.and even so he's still hitting. the demise of the red sox this season all started with their pitching staff collapsing, sure they may not always have run support but if we had a full line-up of ortiz' we surely would. as an individual he is amazing, he is carrying his weight as a player PLUS a lot more.
Yeah how far out of the race are the Red Sox? That's what I thought. Players can hit homeruns all they want but apparently it didn't get the job done. MVP to Jeter hands down. He's a real leader on a winning team with all-round good statistics. He's been at the top of his game this year and it's about time he got rewarded for it.
