Matte black vs regular black?

ok so i was looking at the giro bad luietenant helmet and some options are matte black which just looks shiny or regular black....whats the differance?

matte black is usually the non shiny black

matte = a frost-ish look. Not shiney.

regular is shiney im pretty sure?

yea i think i used the wrong word choice i meant it looks like a darker black. is that right?
