Replying to Thread suggestion

I haave seen on other sites in their forums where when a member, mod, or whoever creates a thread, they have the option of "locking" it. what this does is allows the creator to not allow anybody else to post comments or reply to the thread. By doing this you would eliminate the need to read countless replies that don't mean anything.
you could even take the process one step further and allow the thread creator to filter out what replies they want from the thread they created. i know that mods already have this capability and maybe by giving this power to everyone we would be limiting the rights of people to express a valid point by having the thread creator delete it because they disagree with what is being said.
