i was watchin real tv oday, and some dude hucked a 240 ft cliff or somethin! that was tight shit. that would be so scary (but fun) to jump off something that tall. it was a world record too.

that is so hardcore. I think jumping off cliffs that are so big that you can't possibly land anyway is kind of dumb though, except for the fact that it's crazy it just looks stupid. Holden's famous launch off that nutty cliff is a good case in point.

imagine throwing a rodeo 7 off a 140 fter,u wouldnt be able to spot ur landing till the very end and then falling on ur side breaking ur nose and messing up ur face, think ne body will ever do that

yeah but he thought it was only a 60 footer. if you watch it again he goes past the point he was suppose to jump and goes to far.

hahaha i want to see that 240 footer, thats funny because its kind of who is stupid enough to do it, and if your sternum snaps on impact then the cliff is probably too big

it was paul ruff, and it was 226 feet. i think he shattered his sternum when he landed or something like that. that guy's insane.

Fatal Leap

It wasn't going to get him in a Mountain Dew commercial or even in the Guinness Book of World Records.

But that wasn't going to stop Paul Ruff from launching himself off a 160-foot cliff on a pair of skis. This monumental leap would make him the ski world's unofficial king of cliff jumping.

Ruff was painstaking in his details before the jump. He said, 'Everything is calculated to perfection, the takeoff, the air time, the landing, so we can go off with calculated confidence that there's no way we'll get hurt.'

On March 29, 1993, near Kirkwood, California, Paul was ready to fly. Photographers and friends waited anxiously at the bottom of the cliff.

As Paul raced to the edge, though, something went horribly wrong. The people looking on were soon aware he was not going to clear the rocks below. When he landed, he bounced 30 feet into the air. His perfect jump turned into a fatal leap. All of his efforts to make the jump perfect had failed.

yeah, it is kinda huking, but he wasnt rollin down the windows alot. and, to answer ^ point, you do it cause its fun. jumping off something that tall and surviving would give you the biggest fuckin rush.

bigskia, y do u ski?...bc its fun, but theres a time where u get to apoint where groomers all day arnt that fun and u need a new greater rush, powder does this fine but when uget tired of that and are bored by park and feel the need for air, nothing feels better than skiing a sick line and huckin off a 20 footer, u do it bc its fun, ya it may be dangerouse but u can trip and fall and die just as easily

what i'm saying is why someone like that would want to gain publicity as a skier from just one thing. i love cliffs and i ski out of the park a ton. i just think that's a weak way to gain publicity

there was a guy that died in mammoth. his body was found at the bottom of a 400 foot cliff.

that 226 ft. huck was in Outside magazine a couple years ago. they had pictures for the 1st 50 ft. the shitty thing is when you land a cliff like that for starters u dont land it, you've gotta touch ur skis down and then basically go to your ass, then your back. there was a long article in the magazine.
