Why would you need 5 pairs of skis?

I don't know why some of the guys on the setups thread have like 5, 7, 10 pairs of skis. I dont know why you would need more than 3. Think about it, If you had a pair of AR6s, Seths, and some Prophets, what else would you need. I could handel any condition with thoses.

I have four, used to have 5. When i had 5, two of them were urban skis(old shitty skis) my mogul skis, my park skis, and my powder skis, 5 is totally legit.

i had four pairs at the beginning of last season. Broke three pairs this year. THREE!! If i hadn't had four pairs of skis, I wouldn't have any skis now and wouldn't be able to ski this summer.

Differnt pair of skis for differnt conditions. I would LOVE to have 5 pairs of skis (again), but finanacial situations have barred me from attaining that. So for next season I'm going to have rock skis, everyday skis, and some big, stiff powder skis for charging.

It is really easy for me to have a 4 ski quiver - everyday, park, touring, powder.
and if you throw in a charging ski than it is 5.
For me, a 4 ski quiver is the minimum (most dont have a touring set up though, so it would only be 3) and that is reasonable.
having more skis is just fun, though.
It is easy to justify having two powder skis when they are pretty different, take the lotus 138 and igneous FFF for example.

the key setup is park, powder and all around, like waist of 80-85, 90-95, and 110+. but we're not all fortunate enough to have that so i suggest like a 90 something waist, you can use that for everything, IE: next years chronic blend, that shit is dope

i mean i may not be practical to have 5+ pairs of skis, but why not. the more skis the merrier. i dont see how you could complain about having multiple pairs of skis.

i have one pair, i like it that way best. i dont care if the ski is a "park" ski and not powder ski! i learn to know the ski, spend alot of time with it. and its no prob using it for anything.. i ski raceslopes, park, powder and just chill around with them... i think its bether to get the feeling of one pair rather than having one ski modified for one thing... ofcourse if i had powder skis, powder would prob be easier, but would it be more fun?

Due to lack of money, I do not have 5 skis. Although, I could easily ski 5 pair. fat everyday, really fat powder, fat touring ski with AT setup, fattish park, and one good fat telemark set up. 5 fat skis with different purpose, binding mount, and set up.

I've got a bunch of skis and find uses for them... Why wouldn't you want a full quiver is a better question.
Pontoon/Made N - Deep Pow days
Seth - All mountain general use
PE - Park and Pipe night riding
Mach GS - Race league
Shuksan w/Fritchi - Hard snow touring
Mt. Baker w Fritchi - Pow day touring

As it stands now, I have one ski.
By the start of next season I should have 4.
Ar5(own)
Fujatives(buying this week)
Atomic Powder Plus(believe it)
Line SFB's
I might even add another ski in there if I can get them cheap. Lots of gear, espically skis, is just fun. If you got the money(and I do, work for every cent of it, no outside help) might as well.

I broke two pairs last month, so I only have my pow skis left. But I think 3 pairs is mandatory: urban, park, pow. I can also see how a touring setup would be nice, and if I rode pipe, maybe some skis with edges...5 is legit.

I like mixing and matching. Having a Mad Trix on one foot and Scratch Sprayer FS on the other is fun.

first of all, cuz skis break, really fast if you ride a lot of park. Secondly, cuz it's fun to have a quiver to choose from each morning. Every ski is different man, and riding different skis for different scenarios/conditions is fo sho neccessary. word

line Skogens 176 (bombs) - all mtn, powder, groomers, ice
Armada T-Hall 176 - park, everyday thrashing
Rosi Jr. somethings 160 - urban, really steezy days lol (first skis) with a sweet neon green base.
but since im on the east i usually just ride the T-Halls to improve my park game

I don't think these are the answers I was looking for but I did get some good ones.
" If you had a pair of AR6s, Seths, and some Prophets, what else would you need. I could handel any condition with thoses."
Other than Hard core mogel skiing and some old shitty pair for urban tell me why you need more than 3 pairs? With Urban I could see 4

you can have a good 3 park skis:
1 for jumps (wide underfoot, stiff)
1 for rails (mid sized underfoot, soft for presses),
1 for competition/all around (mid underfoot , mid stiff)
and then you can use any of them for urban, or even have some old ledge skis for rocks and cement.
1 for deep powder
1 for moguls
1 for ice
and so forth. a million billion skis are necessary.
