well if you dont even know what the cord is called im afraid your going to have a hell of a time actually getting everythign to work. first off, the cord is called a firewire cable. if you have a mac, you already have the port for it. however, a lot of pc's dont. seeing how you know next to nothign about computers the cord plug looks like a wide version (with an arched top) of a usb port (the rectangular plug which your webcam, mouse, mic, game controller, etc is plugged into. if your computer does not have this, you need to buy a firewire port. you will definately need someone to install if you dont know much about computers. if you want to take the challenge yourself, open up the side of your computer and on the motherboard you should see a bunch of long slots near the bottom with 3 long line-shaped holes. you will plug it in to here and fasten it in with the screw on the side. make sure the card is securely in. now put the side back on your computer. if you have windows XP it will install it automatically and you will be ready to go.

capturing footage is a whole new game. you will require a program to do this first (adobe premiere, final cut pro blah blah..)
