what they probly mean is that if the temp. diffence between the day before the 0 degree day and the 0 degree day is x. then the day after the 0 degree day will be 2x. but ya it sounds funny.

It's all relative. For example, an African gets cold if its 20º C outside, while someone from the north isnt cold if it's -5 or even -10º C....

Yeah, I have friends from Texas who came up to vermont and had like winter parkas on when it was like 65 degrees farenheit
