' Dan wants you to call him about that kid,' chimes my sister as I walk into the room, my bag still on from skiing. I didn't know what the fuck she was talking about at first, but after about 30 seconds I learned a senior in my school had been killed in a car wreck. This wasn't just any senior. This was the nicest guy, allstar football player, scholar, he was top dawg at my school, and he got crushed by an SUV. I wasn't best friends with this kid, being a freshman and a completely different type of kid ( artsy, off beat for me the football star for him.) Immediately my mind starts grazing among fields of memories searching for anything lasting of the kid. And that was when it came to me. It wasn't anything big, but it certainly was something. Last week, I was walking down to the gym during a free period, and walking down the parking lot I saw him. There was noone out there but he and I. It had just snowed and it was slippery as hell. I indulged myself in sliding to the gym. Right before I passed him, he slipped. He didn't fall. He just flailed a bit, and he went ' whoa!' He slipped. He was the best football player the school had seen in years, and he slipped. Just like me he slipped. And I looked at him, and he smiled and said ' hey.' All I could do was look back and say, ' hello!' We both kept walking. I don't know how i can go back to school and look at that parking lot and ever think the same way about it again. Then after rummaging my reckless mind I found another. This week I was searching through flower order forms to find mine, so I could change part of it. Looking through the pile i found one of his and the message read ' maybe you'll be safe from the squirrells.' I chuckled to myself. And I thought of him joking with the girl, and I gained respect for him in that instant, because at that point he was a human, just like me, and he was a clever one too. So ends my meaningful memories..I'll achieve more when I'm left to my confused thoughts. How did this happen? Why him? What about his brother? Why? What if? There is so much to be asked and noone to answer it.
