this thought just occured to me and i did use the search bar...how did they get tanner off the mountain since it was back country did ski patrol come and get him. How would they get his boots off because they could screw the ankle up even more.
yea man they gota be prepaired for stuff like that o happen, he was taken away by sled and from there i have to idea, perhaps a air lift or they met a ambualnce
Take it from someone who's had a broken ankle inside a ski boot: You don't want them to just "take it off". I went that way, and it fucking kills. It's probably the worst pain I've been in, ever. Next time, they're fucking cutting it off. Cutting is BY FAR the better option.
And, uh, you ate shit and broke your ankles. They're not buying you new boots. Just be glad you're not stuck in the BC dying of pain.
when youv broken your ankles that bad, and you may not even get to use the ski boots again, and your paying heaps to get a backcountry rescue, i dont think youd really care about your boots
it is b/c, but actually owned by alta. the cat track for alta's cat skiing goes up the gulch, so they can get sleds up there. but they did have to carry tanner on a back board from the bottom of the landing up to the middle of the gap in order to put him behind the snowmobile. it seems to me that they had his boots off before they got him up to the sled, so maybe they pulled em off. but, i can't remember for sure and might be wrong. one of my bros-in-law got hurt on the other side of the gulch and the same thing happened. 6 or 7 of us carried him on a back board up to the cat track and a sled hauled him off to alta's clinic.
they dont usually cut it off. u cant juts CUT off a ski boot, when my budyd broke it they had about 5 people there so strecht it hard core and slide it off.
finally... an answer for you.
there are tons of kickers in the gulch. kickers get built on both sides of the gulch off all kinds of features. most people only recognize chad's and pyramid; but, if you are familiar with the gulch, you can pick it out in tons of ski and board flicks. leviathan is bigger than chad's and pyramid but is almost a joke b/c of a nasty inrun compression and set up. So chad's is basically the biggest gap in the area that gets hit - but technically not the biggest.
Not at all... there was an epic thread about this a little while back. The only thing people are protective of are their booters so as long as you don't poach pre-built booters without the permission of who built it, you're fine.
