OK, the xgames was bad for ppl not showing up, but come on. 24 outa 32+4 ppl actually showed up for the big air in the us open. Not to mention, raps, and johnson are in the hospital, i haven't heard from philou or larosse at all this year, candide mysteriously disapears. Belanger is in absentia, so is easley, and countless others. I ask myself this, 'what the fuck', does any1 know what happenned?
now when somebody asks me if i ever decapitated a fetus, i know what to say- My lab partner after a dissection gone wrong.

think about this, where do skiers get more money from, filming or competing?

that made perfect sense, the skiers ultimately will get more money filming becuase they dont stand a fucking chance against Hall- so they might as well go out and film instead of spend all their time getting their asses kicked at competitions.

Pipe Munky made PERFECT sense. Most, if not all, pros make more money filming segments than competing. Tanner Hall, Candide Thovex, and Jon Olson MIGHT be the exceptions, but generally, pro skiers get more for doing movies and photoshoots. It's all about exposure, and you get a lot more of it with a kickass seggy than coming in 12th at the Xgames. Oh and Tanner/Candide/Jon only really make money from contests because their sponsors generally match their prize money with a bonus of the same amount.

I'm sure its a lot more fun to go ski some killer pow hit BC booters and ride with close friends and get paid instead of messing around with comps. I know i'd go film over a comp

cr was at the us open - commentating in the booth. he's not in the hospital but he did tweak his hip or something crashing on the deck of the pipe in the x-games. rapps was at the us open also, walking with a crutch (acl). boyd was at the us open - competing - but nursing a sore shoulder. bellanger found out that the crash he took in the x-games actually fractured a vertabrae and he is out for about a month. criton and woods injured in x-games pipe practice. booth out with an acl injury. mercon decided not to jump in the big air because of the cold. candide was just a no show at the us open.
i think you're right though. so many pros are opting not to compete any more because all the comps go in tanner's favor. it's really pretty bad for the sport in a lot of ways. here's a quote from tanner during the x-games: 'i still think the park and halfpipe are not really skiing, but its just what makes the money'. tells you what he thinks of his sport.

sponsers dont pay skiers to film, the only reason anyone sponsers anyone is for compititions... if those big name skiers didn't show up cause they thought they would make more cash filming the sponserships would be cut super fast

Dude, pro skiers get payed to promote their sponsor's gear. No other reason.

Im sorry but sponcors do pay you to go into films. The film company makes a contract with your sponcors and you are obligated to have a part in the movie(you get to decided weither or not before hand) then your sponcors give you more money if you show how hard you rip on those 1080s or what ever product you are advertising, the only movie company that pays directly through the skiers is MSP

yeah mills you're a fucking idiot, EXPOSURE and PROMOTING are what the skiers get payed for. they go to comps to promote the gear, etc for the sponsors by winning and doing better than other skiers on other gear- its a good way to get out there and compare yourself to others and make yourself and your sponsors look good.
