i remember back in the day when candide was a youngster, and was the most gnarly thing around. his d spin 7 over chad's gap was unreal. he used to spin 10's in competitions which were completely unheard of. now, he doesnt even qualify for xgames superpipe! i think its down to his lack of variation. he d spins with a tail grab and thats it. what do you guys think is the reason for candides fall over the past couple of years? (despite this, his tree plant in war was fucking sick!)

makes you think doesnt it. if you watch rastafaride 1, its the same shit as in pull up or special delivery (only without the sick corked 810 to rail!). i still fucking love candide though, hes been my hero for the past 6 years or so. i am hijacking my own thread, not cool!

Candide was absolutely killing it at X-Games training this year, his runs were consistently the biggest of anyone. Then he crashed and got hurt the day before the comp. His leg was bruised so bad that it was bright purple from his knee to his hip on event day.
He was super sore and just didn't stick his runs in qualifying, if he had he still would have been a threat for the win.

I disagree, he can do any rail trick you wanted him to do. He also can do any spin and he has such a relaxed style. I dont think he didnt make it into pipe becauseof lack of tricks either.

I love Candide, but you've got to remember that he's been around for a while. He gets hurt more easily, and guys tend to lose interest in comps as they get older (e.g. JP.)

Candide is the best rider period. I believe he can do any trick, any way, and anywhere and he can do it smoother then anyone else. Him not getting into pipe finals means that he was pushing himself to hard and fell. He was going too big even for himself, and if you know Candide, you know he is capable of going bigger on every feature and in every event there is. He was going to kill that slope course at X, and every rider in the pipe finals was lucky Candide wasn't there, thats how I see it.

candide isnt around some of the time not because hes "fallen off", its because hes such a progressive rider, he fucks himself up a lot and gets injured. if you dont think hes one of the most progressive riders out there, then i have two words for you: CANDIDE INVITATIONAL.
lets see....he regularly throws 810's onto rails (some people have that cool rail trick they can do once, candide can do em on command now)...he throws the smoothest 450 ons ever.....he was the one sessioning the 150 foot table at the invitational last year....and lets not forget, look how huge he went off the best trick booter this year at x.
Candide is one of the single best riders on the planet. hes just not at a lot of competitions because A) he injures himself trying crazy shit and B) he doesnt feel the need to compete as much i guess. hes been quoted before as saying he likes to ski to ski. so if you think candide has fallen off, then you need to have your head Z-RAYED!

His switch underflip10 thing at x was sick. it deserved way better. He also got best jib in the powdermag awards with a step up onto a balcony rail and he got way higher than anyone else in war on the tree jib with loads of style.

i think that he is one of the best and got a steez that is just fvcking refreshing in times where everyone goes for the hardcore monkey gangsta style stuff.
by the way, what is that trick that he is throwing quite often, i think its one of the first shots in war, it looks like some kind of corked 3, but is it one?

Candide hasn't fallen off. And even if he could never ski again, you could look back on his past seasons and wonders that he's performed...Mammoth Superpark a couple years back...Even shit like that natural 35' step up a couple years ago was tight...plus he boosted those underflips so high in the pipe before people were pushin that hard. Candide is sick.
