It might be pretty good. I personally don't like the K2 apache series. Tell him to get some other skis too, like the Atomic Sugar Daddy, the Volkl Mantra, and the Volkl Gotama.

gotamas are a sick ski. the apache chief is a good ski tho. b3's not the b4 tho cuz ive heard that those suck. salomon ak-rocket or gun s-lab but those are pretty pricy. nordica makes a sick pow ski, but i forgot wat its called.

if he's looking for straight pow skis, try the volkl sumo. Those are massive and should be excellent. Depending on where at whistler, he could also peep the volkl sanouk with the swallow tail.
unless he's going heli skiing, my guess is that he'd want a good big mountain ski that can handle the pow when it gets deep. My vote in that case would go to the seth pistol, made'n, legend pro, king solomon, or even armada ant.
good luck

i really like the big daddies when i rode them. but if he wants something a little bit more manageable the sugar daddies are more than adequate. the scratch BCs are nice too, they'd be okay if he mounted them at true center, and i liked the b3s aswell. smooth ski.

my dad likes his b3s everywhere. i've heard good things about them, and i would have your dad consider those as well.

*JUST SO YOU DON'T GET CONFUSED LAST YEARS B3 IS THIS YEARS B4* this years b3 is somewhere inbetween a b2 and a b4...not exactly a powder specific ski, still the all mountain category

I was so confused the first time I found that out, it took me awhile to grasp. I demoed a pair of Head MOnsters in the 177. They were decent, easy to use. could do Euro Carves. My Elizabeths are dope. The Apaches look prettu cool. I liked the old AK Enemy the best. Do they still make G 4s?
Legend Pros 8800 are so dope.

There was no such ski as a Rossignol B4 during the 04/05 ski season. The B4 debuted in 05/06

I would have to say Legend Pros too, one of the best skis I've skied on and holds up alright out of the pow too. I also like the understated graphics in this world of who can put the most shocking stuff on a pair of skis. I do however own a pair of Seth Vicious'.

Apache Chiefs, B4's, Gotamas, and Legend Pros would all be good skis to look into, it all depends on how good he is and what he wants in a ski. Don't let other people tell him what he wants, let your dad decide for himself which ski would be best.

There's enough pow skis that he just needs to demo them.
However, I've heard good things about the BSquad

i've been considering giving my dad my elizabeths. they would be perfect for him, but he's 55 and smaller than me and he just tore his acl, and your dad probably rips.

your dad most likely would of skiied through the whole skinny straight edge stiff as 2X4 skis. My dad did not ski alot when skis were skinny and 200cm long. Now he really likes a 175-180 rossi bandit b2 or b3, because they are a little softer and quite forgiving. If you dad rips, then get him something stiff. Gotama, Legend Pro, or Armada AnT. Everyone talks about these sticks as if you dont know what your doing they will own you. The only skis I ride now, park aside are my Armadas. The hold up so well everywhere. If you pops can rip he will be stoked on a stiff big ski.

Stiff skis are more fun in pow, just use the straight thin skis, people did it before, why not now?

i am in the club too, but i know what he means, i think there are a lot of kids with huge park potential on this site but the ones that can actually ski on groomers, moguls or powder can be counted with one hand.
it depends pretty much on how he rides, if he is a classy oldschooler, he probably is satisfied with something around 90 because its easier to make the oldschool (short) turns with those.
