Ski Installation
1. You will need the following things to apply a dekal: your skis, a cleaning solution (rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner), scissors (or a razer blade), a table or counter top to work on, and most importantly, your dekal.
2. Make sure your ski's are at room temperature, approximately 70 degrees F, for at least an hour before and after you apply your dekal.
3. If you have any existing stickers on your skis, use a hair dryer to warm them up, and then peel them off.
4. Clean the surface of your skis with a cleaning solution, such as rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner. Make sure you clean the surface the best you can so you dekal will stick properly. Before you do any thing else, make sure the surface of your skis is completely dry.
5. Cut a straight line down the center of the backing so each ski dekal is a separate piece (be careful not to cut the sticker itself).
6. Take your dekal for each ski, with the backing still on and lie it on top of your skis. Make sure you line it up as best as possible.
7. After you see how your dekal lines up,. One at a time, line up the dekal with the nose and the tail of your ski. Find where the dekal crosses the center of your ski binding and cut the dekal in half at this point. You will have a separate dekal piece for the nose and one for the tail of your ski.
8. Starting at nose of your ski, start applying your dekal. Do it slowly by removing the paper backing and be sure to smooth out the dekal as you go. Once you've reached the ski binding, trim the dekal with a pair of scissors to fit around the binding. Then take the tail of the dekal and apply it the same way.
9. Feel the surface of the dekal. Work out any air bubbles which may have gotten trapped under the dekal. Do this by pushing them to the sides of the ski until they are out from under the dekal.
10. When your dekal is all smooth, use your finger and press down the dekal around the edge of the ski.
11. Trim off any excess dekal with a pair of sizzors or a razor blade. Be sure to do this in one direction only.
12. Now repeat steps 6-10 for the second ski.
You're good to go, have a happy dekal day!
