How to get a gig!!!

go up to person A that owns said park/whatever you want to do and says : "hey, i want to work for you. when do you want me? oh, i put out", and you're set.

generally at the beginning of the season a resort will have their own job fair you would apply there.

where do you want to work...the bigger the resort, the harder it will be to get on without putting in some serious volunteer time. That being said, I walked on to the Whistler park grooming team after building the park at a local Ontario hill for one season...so who knows.

resorts jobs have little to do with credentials and everything to do with who you know. Job advancements are made in the bars not in the office. I worked at a resort for two years and watched, literally my crackhead friend (x-world cup skier early 30's) go from ski tech, to head of lodging in two years, jsut because he was funny and well liked. He fucked up all the time, Once he got so high on crack he drove his pathfinder down a black diamond and go it stuck halfway down at 4:00 in the morning, a groomer had to tow him out, and it was kept on the hush hush.

Sorry for ranting I dont know what im talking about. If you want a job grooming or on the park, get buddy buddy with the park guys and try not to pop the question in the first week or two.

I am a instructor so people know me. i have been asked to teach the kids park team when they get more kids.

So just make yourself known and you will be asked. but if suck or are an asshole the forget it.

You are SO right... it's all about who you know not how good you are. Hell if it was about how good you are resorts would have better parks. :)

If you want to be park staff it's going to take time. You need to make friends with all the park staff and hang out with them. Offer to help, and do good work. Take the park manager out drinking and get him wasted... then tell him how much you want to work in the park. When he's all wasted he'll say "so we'll get you a job for sure!" Then pull out the pre-signed contract in your pocket and get him to sign it.

Then you're set.

Seiously though, all but the contract is seriously how to do it.

i would love to work at a park around here but besides kirby (which girljibber runs) there isnt much else close enough and kirby is packed with people
