Do you feel like you're spinning straight up and down, body fully extended? It's hard to grab like that... and that's the way most people learn to spin, to start at least. Try bending your knees and tucking your legs up a bit as you spin; it will seem a bit weird at first, but when your body is condensed during a spin, your hands end up a lot closer to your skis, and a grab will come easier. Try going for a 180 or 360 safety- set your spin off the lip, then bring your knees to your chest and grab under your boot with your leading hand.
