Im pretty sure I want one of these. I do more steeps then park riding so I was thinking the X-wave, but I thought I would ask.

the flex is really close between the two. the x-wave 8 works just fine in the park.

I have X-wave 8s. They're a good boot, don't know about the Foils, but I think they're close to the same thing.

the X wave is a good boot and ull be able to use it in the park.. the only real advantage that the foil has is the shock protector in the heel of the boot to absorb some of the impact from jumps

the shock pad is a gimmick. if you ever get a chance to ski in the x-waves and in the 1080s, you'll notice no difference. except for the fact that the liner in the x-waves is much better than the one in the 1080s. try them both on and you'll notice a diffenrence.
by the way, what size boot do you wear?

the two have a very similar flex, 85 + 80, i think. If you can tell the flex within 5 points, you deserve a trophy. Go with the X-Wave's. i was in the same position a lil while ago, and i took the x-wave's because they were hella comfy. but they have the same shell, and i fell in love with the x-wave as soon as i put it on. X-WAVE 8!!!

i am actually trying to sell my x-wave 8's. not because it's a bad boot at all, but because my friend has a head proform and i'm going to get some of those white head heat mojo boots. hit me up if you're interested.

well, first off, price. also, Im not used to stiff. I had rossi soft boots. I would like something a little stiffer, but not a whole lot. mainly price

11.5
add the 2 and the 9 to get 11. and then add the half size.
for example a 27.5 is a 9.5 in a regular shoe size. 2 plus 7 is 9, and then add the half size.

well, the x8 comes from a series hinted more towards racing, i'd imagine it would be slightly on the stiffer side.

It's actually built on the EXACT SAME LAST as the Foil, Xwave 6, xwave7, 9, and 10. And the XWave 8 is far from "stiff". It's much closer to "soft" than stiff. Is it stiffer than the 1080 Foil boot? Absolutely, but then so is any boot that isn't made for beginners.
There's NOTHING in the XWave series that says "race".
They're a bigger fitting, comfortable, wide, higher volume boot. They're not bad at all, but they're nowhere near a race boot, though you can substitute an Xwave 10 for a race boot in some situations, depending on the skier and the level of racing.
Long story short, you're going on forever about a decision that's super easy to make: The Xwave 8 is a better boot with a better liner. Get it. If you're so in need of the shock absorbing bootboard, just order one. You can do that you know, no matter what your "ski shop" says.

^well put, personally the xwave liner is way more comfortable that the 1080, and they have a better powerstrap, all the 1080s got goin is 'shock absortion' and a softer flex, i took the 1080s, but its the same shell so go nuts... whoever said that the 'little holes' suck is a moron, the spaceframe idea in the boots is brilliant, the boot can now flex in 3dimensions rather than a specific point where your foot puts pressure on the boot. touche salomon. touche.
