i go no poles once and a while. mostly for groomer and park days, I think it is fun to drop the poles a few day out of the ski season. I did also skiboard way back in the day that has some thing to do with it to I think.
I hurt my thumb a few weeks ago, and skied without poles since then. last saterday I initially used poles, but dropped them from the lift on my first run (first time in 19 years). When I picked them up, my thumb was hurting still (not totally healed), so I let my snowboarder friend, who was skiing for the day, use them. I've gotten pretty use to not using poles, and have fun. its still skiing.
There isnt a ski police. You are allowed to ski how you want, don't let other people tell you what to do. Style is what you make it, so do what you want goddammit, and stop arguing about something pointless.
I support it. the local monthly magazine(the force) critized it, said that its a dumb trend thats taking over kh. or something like that.
me and my other buddy started the trend at the hill, and then the other younger kids caught on.
I went no poles on a trail a couple of days ago and I thought it was really fun. For some reason it felt more free... But ya I don't see the reason why people make such a big deal on whether you use poles or not and not to mention theres already like A MILLION THREADS ON THIS and it just gets ridiculous.
Why is this thread back? This was the first post I ever made on newschoolers, making this thread, but that was back in 2005, why is it back? I don't hate on no poles as much now, unless you look bad doing it. Well I guss I wouldn't like it if you look bad with or with out poles.
