So you know you're at a "liberal" school when...

We're now watching a pro-weed propaganda film narrated by Woody Harrelson in my Phil 235 (ethics) class. I am struggling not to laugh my ass off.

Does that mean you aren't going to vote because you gave up on everyone?

Vote for who, student reps? I might. If I have time. I wish that Orcahol party was running again. The beer made entirely from killer whales!

Ok now that's something worth supporting.
Why nuke the whales when you can make beer out of them?

They also ran an old fire hydrant for one of the rep positions that gets into higher faculty meetings, just so we could say we have a fire hydrant sitting next to Martha Piper at meetings... probably do a better job than the actual students anyway. Such pushovers.

... your school's student association encourages civil desobediance for scolar gratuity, when right now it costs 115$ for a session, and there are loan programs for people who can't pay that. COUGH UP 100 BUCKS, DUMBASSES. GOOD LUCK PAYING THE TEACHERS AND EQUIPMENT WHEN EVERYTHING IS FREE. You can even get your books for free if you're poor.
Sorry, my day's frustration.

continuing with the theme, except you know its a conservative school when:
"They need to have a lesbian doctor come talk to us about our sexuality, and they still dont want homosexuals in our school"
and
"When the AP Econ teacher says that if the gov't were to legalize pot, they'd make millions, the entire school hears about it, and the headmaster meets with him the next day."

it requires research so you don;t sound link an idiot when someone asks 'what are you protesting and why?'
and jd, buy nothing day, it is more or less a complete waste of time, but it may raise awareness to a few who never thought of their consumerism before. One day is not going to do anything in the big picture, but if the message that blind consumption is bad gets out, good things will happen, well good for the planet at least.

hey JD you forgot to mention Wreck Beach, which really is The Hippie Promised Land, as well as totem park residences, apparently rated as "one of the best places to get laid at"(i don't know why or how). UBC is liberal, but I bet most of those asian kids that dominate the school's population don't get involved in any of that stuff so it's probably a minority of ultra hippy people.

^yeah, it's those dudes that were in highschool that are kind of like the z-boys right? Their code for doobie smoking was 420. Nobody in Europe knows about it though.

close, but the z-boys were down by LA. I live near san fran. Close though. Yea, it was a code for meeting outside the school to smoke. 4:20 the time rather than the date.

Sorry to dig this old thread up. I meant are you gonna give up voting in federal elections on the basis of:
"Uh... not really... more like given up on all the idiots, no matter what their political alignment is. The rare conservative idiot pops up, and they tend to be much, much dumber, but the hemp "SUPPORT BUY NOTHING DAY" and lesbian radical feminist group of idiots are infinitely more annoying."

No... What the hell does that have to do with federal elections? Giving up on stupid people doesn't entail not voting. How did you manage to come to THAT conclusion?

Giving up on dumb people doesn't mean cutting off contact either. Apparently I wasn't clear on what I was saying.
I no longer have any hope for the idiots who plague the discussion groups in my poli sci classes at UBC.

Oh, sorry man. Don't be angry. I thought you were referring to politicians not poli-sci students. So the politicians are not stupid just the students in your class that just want to make a statement by pretending to be either incredibly right or incredibly left.

I think they are incredibly right or left... they're not pretending. They're just not smart. As for the politicians, well... the jury's still out. I'm sure a few of them have some redeeming human qualities... ?
I honestly don't hate Paul Martin. Despite the fact that some seem to feel he's the devil.

I'm indifferent to Paul Martin. I just want an election so I can DRO again and make some solid cash.
