Best All MTN Twin For the EAST

Seems like latley in an all mtn ski, wider is better, which i would say is true for the west where all mountain is truly skiing everything in any type of condtion. But what about out here on the east coast where most people ski no pitch, limited pow, and groomers.
Whats the best twins out there that are gunna be sweeet for carving on the grommers but yet hold a soild edge when it gets a little icy.

^id say the prophet 100 would be way too wide for east coast....and freeskier said that this years ar5 was really mainly a park offering. good call with the prophet 80's though.

^ I bet within 10 years, 100mm waisted skis will be considered narrow, and perfect for the east.

I ski the east 50+ days a year. Best I've riden so far are the PE's. Great on groomers, great on jumps, and decent for the occasional powder day.

I'd have to say something with a waist around 80mm. That gives you good edge to edge speed and power to hold the serious ice. That give you a ton of choices, then its just up to you to pick the stiffness, price ect out of the group. Chronics, PE's, Tweaks, Scratch's, 1080, ect. Just hit up demo days eairly in the season to find whats right for you. Good luck.

This ar5's are exactly like last years, so they're still going to be good for allmountain.
My vote goes for last years ar5's, you can get them cheap to.

im likin the Karmas, but how does their massive turn radius ( like 22m) actually ski on the hardpact, i know volkl uses their dimension 3 side cut, is the 22m underrated? Can these things cut some turns?

I loved them. If they were wider underfoot i would have bought a pair already. They are soft enough to play arround on and stiff enough to push the crud out of the way.

^mojo 90 were stiff as a bitch. I'm 190lbs so i could throw them arround a little bit and make them flex like i wanted them to. I liked (not loved) the 177 length and hated the 186 or 185 length the mojo came in.
Heads are bombproof. I'm still riding a 3 year old pair of mad trix with 70 or so days on them.

freeskier fucked up a few times in the buyers guide. ...in my opinion at least. do you really think the big ass ANTs with almost no sidecut would carve that well on groomers? well freeskier thought they would. and without doubt the armada ar5s are one of the best all mountain skis out there.

I weigh 185 and I am thinking about buying the 185 mojo's...There is reall hardly any difference between a 185 and like a 177...put them next to eachother and it is hard to understand why they make both of them other than for marketing purposes...people use to ski much longer skis even just 4 years ago

whoa that's crazy you weigh the same as the skis you're looking at. let's see... if i were to weigh the same as my skis, i would have to gain almost 50 lbs! haha.

^if you buy the 185 you'll be sorry. they are super stiff and turn like semi trucks. If you get a 185 arv they are a lot softer and lighter and will turn a lot faster. get the 177 or look for a different ski.

hmmm....I want them for all mtn no park...I wonder where I could demo some on the east in November...when is Killington's demo days? My chronics are 177 and I think going to a 176 for a pure all mountain ski will not be stable enough at the ultra high speeds I plan on skiing it at...how long have you been skiing? Isn't the width the same on both skis the 176 and 186? I am not to concerned about weight...after all 10 centimeters is like 4 inchs...it CAN'T be that much heavier

I keep hearing bad things about the durability of Armadas...not to mention I don't know if I want to support a company that puts "madmoneysteeze" on there skis in bold writting...

Just in case I want to do a five or any other switch riding/tricks...I will still be jumping and what not with them...jsut not major rails and what not...that is what the chronics are for...the ARV's were 125/92/115 last year...are they the same this year? Those might be possible...will they at least last me 100 days of skiing? I like a 120-125 shovel...and don't want to go much wider than 92 waist....maybe they are a good option...thanks

are you implying that a twin tip is not versatile enough outside the park?
thats a pretty ignorant/park rattish comment

mojo 90's would be sick, but if you dont want a stiff ski what about the sprayer bc's, their also a wide ski. Or you could get the PE's, they sound like a sick all mountain ski.

I WANT a stiff ski...this thing is going to be used for going FAST...I want something I can rip really fast...the 185 arv's are 95 in the waist...that is pretty wide

Having a twin is super helpful on steeps as the tail won't ever hook-up and cause you much trouble.

I rode the troublemakers for a season (before the were stolen) and I'm now on the Public Enemies. Between the two I'd totally recomment the troublemakers.
I loved them.
