Armada and Line-what the diff?

Why doesn't Armada just join up with Line? They are both on the same quest, to make Skis spicific to the sport. Or is it all because Line makes Skiboards also?

ha, ski boards (...)
Theres probley a ton of stuff we don't know about between, the owners of the 2 companies,
all i can say is it's better to support either 2 of this skier based companies, than bowing down and sucking some corprate dick...(Soloman)

I don't think J Levinthal would have been willing to say, here come on in and undermine my authority, I've only been working on this for like 5+ years. Levinthal has his idea of where he wants to go with Line and although Armada's goals are quite similar I don't think either one would benefit from amalgamation. Furthermore, this way skiers who want their money to go to the right people (skiers not industry fat-cats) now have two different companies with two completely separate lines for people to choose from.

it is good that there are now 2 ski companies that have the goal to make skis specific for this sport and to progress it. you need that competition between the two to amke the industry bigger. we need more companies like armada and line.

the difference is this, armada has just jumpe dinto the market and may or may not need a year or two to work the kinks out, especially with shipping and distribution. Armada potentially has some awsome and versatile skis. Line, while they have their distribution set has now shot themselves in the nuts by trying to come out with this binding. It may be the best binding in the world but its hitting stores DEC 1st when most ppl buy there skis way before that. No one wants to buy lines with four big holes in them before they can get a binding for it and even when the bindings out many dont want to be restricted to only one binding.

no but he has a point, they basically have the same construction with the wood core and equal twin height, both have exact goals trying to give back to the ski community and driven by skiers.. good post.. looks like we still do have some good posts.

well i think armada is going to be a better company. they will probably gain a good reputation quicker than line did, and they will also probably have better products. but it is good that we now have 2 companys supporting ONLY freeskiing. we need about 3 more and we will be set.

The difference is... Line has more experience and a much bigger product line than Armada right now. I have no idea about how Armada skis actually ride, and I don't think that too many others do, either. All we know about Armada is that is has huge hype and an impressive team of pro skiers running the show... which sort of scares me when I think of Tanner trying to manage a company. Nevertheless I think that Armada will grow quickly because its so popular... lots of people will buy Armada this year even if they suck, and with the money the company can increase quality and expand their line.

Oh, and they wouldn't 'join up' because in general that's not what companies do. People want to make money for themselves, which is why they have their oen companies.
Another issue that I think will develop with Line and Armada is East coast-West coast. Line is primarily a big Eastern operation, you'll see a lot more kids out here on Skogs and Darksides then you will out west. I'm sure that Armada will make a big play for the West coast sphere.

i totally agree with you on the merger.
maybe like salomon and head should hook up because they're multi-sport conglomerates. obviously they're not because each of the owners are profit maximizers. and the point about Line and fruitbooting and Armada and skate is an interesting point.
4FRNT...anyone want to say anything else about it? such as a possible lauch date/year?

4frnt as of right now is just sterbenz making skis for himself and a few friends but who knows what could happen.

4FRNT.com. They should be on the hill this winter, in Vegas in January, and in shops next winter. Definitely there are differences and healthy rivalries in all the new companies. Matt is more of a self startup. OC/Armada has bigger backing and the O connection. J. Lev has history working for him and against him. The binding could be the biggest innovation in years.

This is the bvest thing possible for the sport right now. You have this competition that is coming up, more focused companies zeroing in on newschool helps lower prices and creae better products. We need more and more companies such as Line and Armada to come along.

the worst thing possible is if line and armada combined. i mean, we need diversity and more freeskiing based companies. also the diff is vary different. just bc they both r in the freeskiing only business doesnt mean they r the same company

Well, after seeing the skis, I can safely say, Line skis look good. That's a major difference, that and Line skis don't cost $600-$700. And thats not MSRP either, thats the real price of Armadas.

Clausen, check out getboards.com for REAL prices of skis....
Hmmm...the 1260 is $399...
The Armada page is selling their skis at the price listed. Freeze just lists the MSRP.

MSRP's mean nothing whatsoever. It all comes down to what price places are selling the skis at. You should know that. Line doesn't go selling their skis on their website for MSRP, like Armada does.

ya his is right even a reatil shop i work at sells the skogen for 450 which is still 100 bucks cheaper.
i what to know who is making armada's skis?
Whose facility or factory are they using.

the promodel lines STREET price is 500$. That is what they are supposed to be selling for. So, the armadas are really only 75$ more. And as said previously the reason for that is because they were not massed produced.

Lines sell for about $500 CDN, so unless you are saying that street price of 500 bucks is Candian, you are wayyyyyy off!

I say the price doesn't matter.
If we support Armada, we are supporting the industry, which will force all of the collective prices down.
Sure, at first they might cost a few extra bucks than the other companies, but if they succeed then everything will be different in a few years.
I support what they are doing, and am really impressed that they have taken the leap of faith in our sport to do this.
I'm over it.

street price is 500 american! I have the dealer catalogue with all the prices. Skis sell for the same price in canada as they do in america. The difference is that skis in canada are cheaper cuz theyre dollar isnt worth jack shit.
