all you people out there who dis the way a pro acts, dress's, and even skis should know better.
dissing tanner hall saying he's got shitty style and he's trying to hard, or whatever all you guys say is retarded. you might not like 'gorilla steez', but don't be a little bitch and make a thread on ns insulting him. think about what you're doing. one of the key reasons why moguls and arials suck is because they have no freedom to throw progressive stylie tricks... you gotta do it their way or you just simply won't win.
so you don't like the way tanner hall skis... who gives a shit? he's doing what he wants to do, and you can just watch other skis (ones who you like to watch).
yea, i donno, i lost modivation to keep going on with this... (damn lazyness), but i'm sure you all get the point. so yea, before you diss someone (who you probably have never met or talked to) just think about why you are in this sport (and on this site)...

Tanners one of the best out there. You don't need to worry about these people that dis him. In Happy Dayz he doesn't really use his gorrilla style all the time: you think he can use that style when he does a corked 1080.
Rather than bitch about his style, find someones style you like and talk about that. That way your always stayin positive.

true dat...something to add to that, i dont know if this pisses you off but it kinda annoys me...people who are so into a particular skier that they immitate their style to a t...i was at killington yesterday and for a minute a thought i saw tanner hall and then i realized that it was just some tanner wannabe. i guess is ok to kinda idealize a skier, but this kid dressed like him, cut his hair like him, and even approached hits like him...whatever if thats what he wants to do then fine, but when it comes down to it, i would much rather watch tanner session a hit then some tanner wannabe.

Sometimes I post shit on here without thinking, like ripping on someone, and then you think about later it and it seems kinda stupid, I mean you dont have to love every pro skier, but ya shouldn't post shit about them. Fuck you can like or dislike whoever you want but until ya know them you cant really judge them ya know. Anyway, everyone posts shit, none of it really means anything.

I agree switchmisty540 it's one thing to observe and want to imitate some aspects of a certain pros style but to become an exact double is lame. Even if you were to get damn good that way no one will respect you because you're just copying someone else all the time.

I absolutely agree with you Darryl in everything u said, except the part about who cares how a pro acts.
Evan Raps saying he's the best and how no one else is on his level was one thing, but when he quits halfway through his slopestyle run, doesnt even hit the showtime booter for the fans, and then complains of being misjudged, it makes him look dumb. I used to really look up to Evan as a cool guy, not so much anymore. Doesnt mean I dont like his style, or his skiing ability, cuz they're both dope, I just dont like pros, or for that matter, ANYONE acting like they're 12 years old.

my complaints:
tanner and his gorilla steeze is actually pretty cool, i dont nessecarily like the style, but he was trying to be unique (which is lame cause you shouldnt have to try to be unique) but the part that makes me sick, is that a bunch of other people tried to copy his gorilla steeze, watch dash longe in stereotype, it makes me sick.

yeah man...and personall i think gorilla steez helps...yesterday i was doing this trapezoid rail at keystone for about 30 mins and kept losing my balance bout half way through...i tried it all crouched down and low and i had better balance and stuck it...im not copying tanners steez but shit everyone has to have an opinion on something, its just about skiing man

once again a stupid ass comment from k2skihomo. eric pollard uses poles all the time, get your head out of your ass and watch a vid. also, who the hell cares about 'copying' style. this has been said before, but there's only so much you can do on skis, so yes, people are going to have to 'copy' from each other now and then.

well I guess it's ok to have an opinion about a pro. but to go and talk shit about them is lame - unless there's a situation like you get kicked out of a house for no reason (you know what I'm talkin 'bout). first of all... who the fuck cares what you think! second, Everyone is different so I'm not gonna like the same things that you like. and third, why do you really care? It's always have someone to look up to and try and use them as a role model to improve your skiing but... they're regular people - would you post something about how your friend who is awesome in the park but can't ski the backcountry? - but people do this regularly on here.

progression? in the start there was more jibbing without poles than now but I think it sorta became mandatory to use poles to split from aerials.

Pollard was not skiing with poles like 4 years ago.
he was using 1260 without poles and worked on his own style.
i like having my own way to do tricks and my way to grab in different tricks.
when i do a spin with a lui kan on a flip with a lui kan, they wont look the same. It's all about doing tricks with grabs like you think they'll look better or are funnier for you to do.

where the hell do you ski park? you need poles to ski... but my skiing technique in the park is completely different than on an actual challanging run.
all you do in the park is ride your edges and point the skis towards a jump. to ski park the only actual skiing skils you need is go straight, slide sideways and stop...

oh, tanner didnt invent the gorrila steez, that from frootbooting. theres this rollerblader around my town who had that shit long before tanner, and it really does help your balance. just dont do it too much, i dont want no funky monkey sausage fest on the slopes.

'who cares how a pro acts' of course everyone cares how they act, think of all other sports proffesional athelets they get talked about all the time. Once your Pro your going to have the whole world watching your every move 24/7, your a role model, how you act means so much. You no longer ski for yourself but for the companies that are sponsering you, they want you to look good and sell there products. If your a dick to everyone people wont look up to you. Like Nine_Milla... said about Evan Raps how he just quit, you can't do that, it makes you look bad and have no respect to the fans or the sport. Everyone says that pro's are just regular people, i guess they are but they can't just act how they want. For example at the whistler big air when Tanner goes and smokes weed with people in the crowd, im not saying that smoking weed is bad i do it myself, but if the general public is watching it makes us all look bad. These pros repersent our sport, what they do means everything. this is just my thoughts on it, if you don't agree thats ok cause this is just my opinion

If he wants to do that and risk a sponsorship then he can go do what he wants. Are you gonna smoke because tanner does? You choose your role model.
There's professionalism that comes with regular like hockey, you can't kick a reportes ass. not because it looks bad on you, because that's your decision. But it looks bad on your team. If they odn't like how someone acts in skiing, then they can take him off their team.
Why would you worship someone for their skills? (any skill)It's stupid. I'd respect someone because of the effort they've put in, and respecting them is not talking shit about them! (and not bothering them)
