Replying to tables

ive noticed something about table tops, and that is that only some people clear them and/or try to clear them. i see people get more than enough speed to clear a 40 footer easy but at the last moment they chicken out and go off the side or speed check and land on the flat. i dont understand y anyone would do this. the landing was made for one purpose and that is to be landed on, and people are scared of landing there. ive heard some of my friends talking big because they cleared a table at our park last year that was only like 40 or 50 ft at the most. ive asked them y its such a big deal cause its really not that big, and they say 'its scary'. i dont get y a 40 ft table would b scary, anyone here know why.
