I know there are quite a few BC residents around here. So I guess the question is... does ANYONE care about this election?

i care as long as the NDP don't win which they won't. I work and study in the tourism industry the liberals have put more money in that than anyone else. they also fast tract a lot of new cat and heli operations and are pushing to get places like Jumbo in operation. Also the NDP didn't want the Olympics here in 2010. It may not seem like it sometimes but our economy is way better than it has ever been before. Although this election is coming at a bad time with the whole federal election thing that might come up.

They won't. The whole fact that school fees for people like me have doubled since the libs came to office kind of pisses me off, I like the NDP freezing post secondary costs... too bad they're nuts. I'd like to see them get in and NOT completely screw us up fiscally. You're right, though, I'd call a 60-40 split of seats. Greens might get 1 total.

haha my friend works for the NDP in Nova Scotia (Alexa's homeland...) and right now she's out on the island working in the election. So I guess... go NDP? but I'm not from BC, so yeah.

Too bad that like any election in Canada it's a matter of choosing the elast retarted candidate and not the one who's best suited to the job. Guess lotsa places have that issue though...

yeah, from what it appears, voters have the choice between the bad, the worse, and the evil... Sketch elections, but we had a debate in english class today about that and people, especially young voters, dont take enough time to get involved. Everyone should look through multiple sources of information and make their own opinions. Seriously, you can consider yourself an idiot if you do not vote, because you are going to be affected by the choices other people than you make for the next few years! If everyone thinks that their vote won't do anything, they are absolutely wrong about it and giving it away to smarter people than will vote for a party that maybe they don't like. I think NDP is a reasonnable choice, although their economic and social plans aren't very developped. BC needs more parties that could eventually become popular and have a chance of winning.

ITs so weird how you guys in Canada know alot about U.S. elections but in America we know nothing about your elections or leaders. It shows partly our news medias ignorance and our own laziness to get off of CNN and actually do some research though too.

Oh, they are... they just call themselves the Liberal party. Clever little disguise. I think Campbell got wrecked in that debate, mostly because Carr and James ganged up to bash him and finished each others' points half the time when they ran out of time. Not that it's HARD to make Campbell look like a prick when it comes to health care and education, because, well, he is. It didn't help that most of his answers were a thinly veiled way of saying "everyone needs to take care of themselves and we'll lower taxes" (that whole "we've helped health care by promoting healthy living through ads" spiel was particularly amusing), nor did it help him to admit that he can't keep his promises. Outlawing striking for key government workers was a bit of a facist move, and it's going to hurt him. But I still say he's going to win about 60-40, because no one is paying attention to ANY of this.
James is quite the artist when it comes to scathing diatribes.

he also cut down the minimum wage to $6.5/hour, cut educational funding...got arrested for drunk driving in Hawaii(but thats his personal life, shouldnt affect him).

Carol James is a nobody, even if i supported the NDP i wouldn't want someone with such little experiance as she does to be the premier. Bad call on the NDP part to have her be the leader. You are right though JD May no one seems to care at all sp people are voting with no actual knowledge of what is going on. As with tution rates sure i would love to see them go down but we need to see more help from the federal government (money has been put aside in the budget but i don't think its enough). The way i see it is with the liberals corparate agenda the long term plan will mean more money to spend on social activities like tutition rates. If the NDP comes in they will try and lower them right away but put our province further into debt spending money we don't have. It sucks right now but the future could be better

Liberals all the way man.
Sure we sold BC rail, and closed a bunch of schools etc, etc. But that's because we're so far in debt that we have no other choice! I mean, 4 years ago BC was in a real economical slump. Not that we're thriving now, but we're crawling out of that slump.
If NDP or someone got in, what are they gonna do?
They're gonna open up all the schools and stuff again, which is good on one end, but BC is gonna straight back down the bottom financialy. Once we start making a little bit more money, as a province, then we can start worrying more about those things.
Sure I may sound like an asshole, but it's the truth.

All right people, dont forget about it, tommorow, also remember about the referendum for the Single Transferable Vote, take some time to understand how it works, it's a little complicated but if people vote for it an get used to it it will be good for sure!

FUCK. Gordon Campbell is such an idiot.
Oh, and our economy is good because the WORLD'S economy is good- not because of Campbell and his Liberal party.
Carole James would have been a great change for B.C.
(For anyone in the Delta South riding- how did Roddick get elected again? She's so useless! I'm so pissed off about this.)

We KNEW the NDP weren't going to win, 30 seats is a victory for them in my mind. I can't stand either party, I just think the NDP are the lesser of 2 evils.

The NDP had a better chance this year than ever before, and over-all, I'm happy with the seats that we've gotten. However, I'm really dissapointed that Dileep Athaide (the NDP candidate in Delta South) didn't get elected. Even though I was working on the NDP campaign, I would have honestly been happy with most of the candidates- anyone except Roddick.

"Ever before"?
... They have won, you know.
Did anyone see the riding that ended up reporting an NDP victory 6748 to 6747?! I'd say "Holy crap, that's close" is the understatement of the year...

I think that's because maybe 40% of the people know what it is. I have 3 friends at least that voted no just because they had no idea what it was.
