Replying to Darkness and solitary joy.
Someday after a long day of skiing take a moment to appreciate nature and solitude.
I once stood in the snow and dark at 10:00 after the ski area closed. In the middle of the compound where the ground was groomed. The snow was streaming down softly, no wind was blowing. The cool of the crystals touching my face, cooled my spirit and slowed the adrenaline still pumping through me like a bullet. The soft yellow lighting that iluminated the grounds and lodge, gave me comfort in the night all alone. Unlike the sun that burns my soul in the summer where the snow is hidden away and I pine for it's softest touch. As I walk away to my truck, my footprints left behind me, slowly fill up with the powdery white lace falling through the atmosphere.
Like a drop of water in a lake, this snow will be so easily forgotten. But in this moment, joy flows through me and fills my heart, from the simplicity, and the solitude.
