Could be the glades off the CBC run... looks sick tho we need confirmation.

Also, if you go skiers right immediately when you get off the edge chair you can find some freshies occasionally.

It could be but the glades around CBC are a lot tighter, this looks pretty open...and yea, the hike-to glades next to the edge are great

These hike to glades you speak of, how far do you hike to get to them.

I've gone skiers right off the edge chair to Johansen peak via the hiking/snowshoe path but thats a good 45 minutes hike.

Are these the glades you speak of or do you cut off sooner.

I'm talking about Sensation glade to the right of the edge chair so that's the one you're probably thinking of. Also, I've heard of this 45 minute hike but I don't know where to go...is it worth it? Where does the run lead you/end at?

I've done it once

You go onto sensation, stay left and cut off onto a snowshoe trail that takes you to the Johansen peak. I think?.?.? you can pretty much cut off anywhere during the 45 minute hike. There is definitely a lot of exploring I'm gonna do there this winter.  I only did it once last year and went pretty much all the way to the Johansen Peak and it was the deepest snow I've ever skied. Apparently because of the the orientation of Johansen it receives more snow then Tremblant does and is virtually untouched. Not many people know about it. At first the trees were kind of tight but half way down it opened up. I'm sure there are better places because there is so much terrain. It definitely needs more exploring.

It dumps you onto a cross country ski trail that is slightly downhill so its not too bad, which is about a 1-2km loop back and drops you off not far below the edge chair. Just be very careful if you go right after a snow storm. I did and I almost lost the hiking trail a few times and only saw the x-country trail at the end by luck. If you miss the x-country trail I think you could get pretty lost pretty. You might want to look at some maps of the Parc Tremblant if you don't go in there with someone thats already done it.

I'm going to be in Whistler for the entire x-mas break. Got a job out there but I'll be back after the CEGEP break and should be there most weekends

PM me if you want to head out there, I'm always looking for people up for the hike. Most of my friends are too lazy or to busy in the park

Theres a nice pillow like cliff at the bottom of bon vieux temps and near the end of the bottom part of dynamite to the skiers far right. You can get good pow on sensation. Head to the skiers left and youl find some super steep chutes. I once skied knee deep pow there.

That looks so sick someone needs to find that...
This brings me to something; I looked up backcountry mont tremblant on google and this came up
Seems they hiked over to peak Johansen and skied all the way down to the south side. You can watch all of out seems to be some interesting lines i bet there is a lot more...
Anyway if you skip to about 6:30 till the end you will see they come out on lac tremblant near the hotel de lac... Anyone want to try and do this, this year?

It could be by lower ryan. I saw a photo on tremblant's website of a guy climbing a cliff and the background looked like that photo.

I'm pretty sure that is not johansen, or atleast the part that is hikeable from Tremblant. There are no Huts up there and it doesn't really look like it. My best guess is it is somewhere in the Parc Mont Tremblant.

Johansen to the southside is garbage, don't even bother with it. It's flat the entire way. Tried it once and you are pretty much stuck on the hiking trail single tracking it the entire way. If you try to break off of the hiking trail and hit any kind of powder you will just stop and have to push your way down.

Dropping in to the north side is your best bet. There is a lot of terrain out there and a lot to discover. You can pretty much drop in anywhere along a 2-3km hiking trail from the top of the edge to the top of Johansen so there are a ton of lines. There is a x-country ski trail that shoots you out when you are done. I've done a few there that were pretty good, the snow is great, barely ever do you see any other tracks and it's steep enough to get going, similar to the top of the edge.

The only problem is finding areas where the trees are not too dense... That vid the glades looked pretty open. Most of the ones I've done of Johansen are pretty thick :(

If you go bushwacking off of CBC's skiers right it can be tedious getting out but you'll find tight glades with powder filled with rutted out moguls between the trees. If you go off the beaten path between Ryan and Versant soleil you can find tight glades but they arn't all that steep...

Great thread? Where's the waterfall? I'm always at MT too early in the season to enjoy it but always wonder where it is.
