Reminds me of this video that has been posted a while ago. Chairlifts can be gnarly if people don't do their jobs properly.

One rolled back at Devil's head resort in Wisconson earlier this season. A couple people were hurt but luckily nobody was killed.

why would someone ever lose their job? they did their job perfectly if we are talking about blasting, they set off an avalanch that was bigger than any other i have seen on video at a resort. that thing was fucking massive, if they hadnt blasted and that had let go during business hours, how many people do you think would have died? repairing a lift is easier than repairing publicity from an avalanche that coulda killed 100 people in one go....

Thats the Eskimo lift right?

I had to watch those videos for my Lift Ops class freshman year. They rolled it back, destroyed a tower, and felled a tree onto the haul rope/comm line. The crazy thing was, they had it running agin the following week completely under all regs/specs/standards.

You know most people who die in avy's die from trauma right, not suffocation? I don't think I bunch of powder could crush a person to death. Snow from avy's, well anything that isn't directly on top is rock and like someone already stated, like concrete blocks.
