Subject: ON3P received demand to change name of “Great Scott”
This post is meant to inform anyone who has to date purchased a “Great Scott” ski from ON3P, or those who are considering a future purchase. In late October, ON3P received a cease and desist order from SCOTT USA Ltd., and its affiliates SCOTT Sports SA and SCOTT USA Inc., demanding ON3P immediately cease commercialization and sales of all “Great Scott” branded skis for reasons of trademark infringement.
We are current exploring the legality of the use of “Scott” in the name of our ski “Great Scott” and should reach a decision in the near future.
Once we have reached a decision, I will post an update on the matter.

Im tempted to email my uncle about the case and see what he has to say.. Hes a huge lawyer in the state of MN. Im also going to see what he has to say about the WME Level 1 law suit. Hes a defense attorney though so we'll see what he knows about trademark infrigment..

And correct me if i'm wrong. But isn't the phrase "Great Scott" like a legitimate phrase? Then seriously it will not be aloud to be trademarked in any way. So Scott is double butt raping themselves here.

this thread pisses me off for a number of reasons. when WME was in the process of suing Level 1 the community on NS was pissed, and for good reason. but now when SCOTT USA does the same thing (pushes the little guy around) there is not that much action against SCOTT USA. they did just sign Tom Wallisch but that should have nothing to do with the fact that SCOTT USA is suing ON3P for a shitty reason. NS needs to put Wallisch aside and decide what is best for the tight-knit skiing community and take action.

Um...Are you blind? This thread got started when. Like yesterday night. Its on its 6th page in less than a day. Although I agree with you, I can understand why it isn't blowing up like WME v. Level 1. It is just as great of a travesty though. People on this site are just not as affected by this case. I'm going to guess that more people purchase level 1 products versus scott or ON3P skis combined. (I'm just talking movie vs skis not poles or other stuff). I hate it when the big corporation bullies small companies. I have even one more reason to buy ON3P's next year. That and WME wasnt as associated with newschool skiing as Scott is, I mean the article of Scott sighning wallnuts essentially came out right before this.
