in related news, Scott hasn't responded to my e-mail, nor do I expect that they will respond to any e-mails on the issue
Armada poles are in the mail after a last minute mind change, thanks for the heads up Kim.
Basically, he said that either iggy was making it up or it was a prank. He said that he is in the HR department at Scott and none of them heard of anything. Apparently, he didn't check too hard.

Subject: ON3P received demand to change name of “Great Scott”
This post is meant to inform anyone who has to date purchased a “Great Scott” ski from ON3P, or those who are considering a future purchase. In late October, ON3P received a cease and desist order from SCOTT USA Ltd., and its affiliates SCOTT Sports SA and SCOTT USA Inc., demanding ON3P immediately cease commercialization and sales of all “Great Scott” branded skis for reasons of trademark infringement.
We are current exploring the legality of the use of “Scott” in the name of our ski “Great Scott” and should reach a decision in the near future.
Once we have reached a decision, I will post an update on the matter.

It doesn't matter whether it's legit or not legit it will never get decided on the merits; either Scott will retract its demands or On3p will concede to them. There is no way this ever goes to court. On3p can't afford it. 97% of cases are settled, and this will certainly be one of them.

I think with everything going on in the industry lately the name "Cease and Desist" would be a great re-branding for the ski. It would be kind of like an inside joke and would give ON3P stronger ties to the core skier community. We would all take it lightheartedly and it would reinforce the fact that ON3P is a core company, who would rather concentrate on the skis and the skiers then the corporate BS.

As ridiculous as this lawsuit is, I don't really think that Scott's ski market department probably even knew about it, otherwise they pry wouldn't have sued... As shown by the the Scott rep or whatever who had his post deleted. Probably with Scott being so huge the legal department sued without even looking at ON3P's owners name. I'm guessing that the snow department is fucking pissed at the legal department right now at scott.

You may be right. And that's one of the big disadvantages when a company gets too big. Often the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Smaller companies are usually way more maneuverable in the market and more in touch with what customers want. I haven't seen a better example of this then in the ski industry.
