This has been a pretty fucked up couple of days in ski gabber.
Shit sucks, hopefully its not the whole company and maybe the legal department is just getting pissy or something. Don't fuck with on3p though, there is just no good reason.

Anyway that sucks about the cease and desist order for ON3P. I know the "GREAT SCOTT" is referencing an owner of ON3P and in no way related to SCOTT SKIS, but If I am not mistaken, SCOTT USA was named after Ed Scott, an engineer/ skier from Sun Valley, ID in the 50s that started making ski poles. Since Ed Scott affixed his name to poles, skis, goggles, outwear and many things ski related since the 50s, Scott USA he may have a legitimate trademark claim. By affixing his name to the product, Ed Scott did the same thing Scott Andrus did to ON3P's "Great Scott" ski. It sounds like a legit claim.
Given that you already sold many "Great Scott" skis and used that ski in your Freeskier ad, that is a huge pain in the ass for you guys. Good luck in the process and definitely keep NS posted as to what happens and what you decide to do.

Subject: ON3P received demand to change name of “Great Scott”
This post is meant to inform anyone who has to date purchased a “Great Scott” ski from ON3P, or those who are considering a future purchase. In late October, ON3P received a cease and desist order from SCOTT USA Ltd., and its affiliates SCOTT Sports SA and SCOTT USA Inc., demanding ON3P immediately cease commercialization and sales of all “Great Scott” branded skis for reasons of trademark infringement.
We are current exploring the legality of the use of “Scott” in the name of our ski “Great Scott” and should reach a decision in the near future.
Once we have reached a decision, I will post an update on the matter.

What's 'great' about this is that ON3P is not really backed into a corner. Scott, the man, has options. Scott's graphics do not have the model name on them so no worries there.

Don't shoot the messenger here- In defense of Missile (Kevin Kruse, Scott USA marketing manager) Scott as a company invests a lot into our sport from the bottom up and has for a long time, and while this is a bizarre move with the C&D against ON3P, I can personally vouch for Kruse being a very good guy within the industry and he means well. Even having him in here defending his brand says something- you don't see that with many other "corporations" involved in this type of matter. Obviously these type of business practices DO NOT belong in skiing, (and hopefully this gets cleared up quickly) I just wanted to say that before everyone gets hyper-reactive and tears this guy and Scott apart.

Given that you already sold many "Great Scott" skis and used that ski in your Freeskier ad, that is a huge pain in the ass for you guys. Good luck in the process and definitely keep NS posted as to what happens and what you decide to do.
