Whats all the hype on FKS's bindings???

what makes them such a good binding (look, or rossi fks)... i know they went for a period of time where they stopped production of them but why are they so popular and people make a big deal out of them??

well one of my favorite parts about them is no huge ass track behind your boot causing a dead spot where the ski does not flex... its a whole new ski with an FKS on it. IMO

searchbar, but basically they have the most well-designed release system, theyre relatively lightweight and they minimize the dead spot on the ski caused by the boot and binding because neither piece is very large

They are a light, sturdy, simple binding with a great design. Safer and more effective than any binding on the market, many will also argue that you can feel the ski much better with an FKS, but that is debatable.

but i hear the narrow mounting pattern makes it pretty easy to pull out.  is there any way to avoid this? and are the new fks engineered any differently to minimize the likelihood of a pull out?

I've never had them pull out of my skis.  I think since they stopped making them ski production has also improved so it shouldn't be a problem.  I feel like binding pull outs in general were more common a few years ago regardless of which bindings you have.

It costs a TON of money to develop a new binding, that's why so many companies have bindings that haven't changed internally for years and years.


The FKS bindings are just basically bombproof. Best release system, low profile. Not too heavy. They are just great all around.

The new FKS bindings have 2 new screws on either side of the heel piece. So G. They are gonna have bright orange ones I hear.

the turntable design makes it so that when you start to twist out there's more room to recover from a full release

the 155's and up are full metal, who doesn't want that!?!?

they literally never break, they last years and years with no problems

they look secksy ;)

idk how to put words on it, but they're just the best, and once you use them you will understand

i have these mounted on a pair of race skis from 2007 the back just twists side to side so that if you have a bad fall you dont break you ankle. also i never ejected from them.

prepare to pay at least an arm and a leg for them, if not more, though

think of it this way; you can buy a pair of px bindings a season, or keep fks/pivots for years. its like buying any sort of nice gear, you get what you pay for. an investment of sort

Just something to think about: these are not ideal for anyone still growing, who has to change boots every season since they do not offer the adjustability that most bindings do. Then again most of you change skis every few months so that may not be problem.

That said I have a pair of old ones that I love, and are still working great after several years of hard abuse

Yeah they're good and I use old models myself but you could get Peak 15 for way less now which are solid too. The whole hype and limited availability is genius marketing. They could sell them at $600 now and people would still buy them. I tip my hat to you Rossi/Look.

They were not. That is the thing. I was fucking around with a pair in my shop and they were nowhere near testing properly. And that was a brand new pair that we found somehow.

Conceptually, they were great. But once made, not so much.

ok i just picked up a pair mounted to some race skis. problem is when i click in to both bindings and lean forward the brake squeaks kinda and lowers a bit. the brake isnt fully compressed unless my entire weight is on it. its kinds annoying and very creaky. is this a problem should i still put em on my new park skis this year or are these messed up in any way? +k of course for help come on turntable proffesors diagnose me. BUMP

Check to make sure that your forward pressure is set correctly. That is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

on most race bindings you can remove the brake anyways so if you think its ok you could just take em off.

or you could spend some time and learn how to bend so you don't kill someone when you fall and your ski shoots down the hill and impales a 5 year old kid through the face while his parents scream in desperation and you realize you have just done something that will haunt you for the rest of your life and cause you to end up in an insane asylum in 7 years because of severe trauma from the image of the little kid with a bloody ski sticking through his face because you were too inept to bend your brakes

the funny thing is that the majority of peoplle who dont use breaks with fks are pros. e.g. witt foster matt margetts tj schiller etc. so if they were to impale a kid im pretty sure theyre backs are covered

every pair of turntables i've ever stepped into has that crisp & almost comforting 'clack!'  sound and feel to it.  after a few months on my newer 120's that goes away :( .  It will be good to have it back

there are so few pros that they could never make up the majority, it's mostly people who couldn't figure out how to bend the brakes, same goes for other bindings as well

I have a pair sitting in a random parts bin at the shop.  The heel cup has cracked off.  It seems like it could have been a decent binding, the only thing that bothers me is the 3 screw heel/

aside from din spring, the heels are the same

toe difference is that there's more plastic on the 120 and it has upward release

imo they're worse but for park they're better, it's preference
