I'll PM ISkiSwitch to get his ass in here as well.
Steezninja skis WNY as well (mainly Killa Bridge though)
Heres a little summary of the local areas:
Kissing Bridge: (my home mountain) second closest to Buffalo, with a pretty decent park. The lifts arent that great, and the park crew can get super lazy. Its about 30-40 minutes closer to Buffalo than Holiday, so thats real nice. Probably the best thing about KB is that the park is kinda secluded and it has its own lifts, so its easy to find people.
Holiday Valley: Pretty far from Buffalo, but way nicer that KB in pretty much every way. The lifts are better, the park is nicer and its bigger. The season is also way longer, so pretty much everything about the valley is better. Holiday also has a pipe, which KB doesn't.
Buffalo Ski Club + Holimont: They're private so you wouldn't wanna go there. Besides, they both have terrible parks, even by WNY standards.

Subject: Holiday valley/UB
Hey, i just sent in my check for UB, im wondering if anybody else is going there and is also looking for a roommate. Was also wondering if anybody skis at holiday valley, i guess its a mt a little under an hour away, and most likely what i will be calling my home mountain.

Both my brothers go to UB, and they ski at HV (one of them is JAYTRON on here), and I'm pretty sure iSkiSwitch goes there too. Either that or he just lives in the area.
ISkiSwitch does attend UB as well as live in the area. He splits his time between HV and KB.

Mon - KB/HV nights (switches)
Tues - KB night
Wed - HV night/KB day
Thur- KB night / Concaigne day
Friday- HV night/ Concaigne day
Saturday - KB night
Sunday - Peak and Peak 8 hour pass
It's only $150 and If you get it real early its only $113

KB is meh. I obviously didn't ski there this past season, but in the past they always had an incredibly weak terrain park staff. Really lazy. However the vibe was fun back in the day.
HV is getting better. They've been stepping it up more and more but still have a ways to go as far as a larger resort is concerned.
If you can snag a discount for HV, go with there. Better terrain, better park, better lifts. KB was good because it was so cheap if you had to pay full price.

I would definitely say that KB has a better vibe, it seems like everyone knows each other. As far as the park management goes they got a new manager this year and hes not drunk all the time like Langman so it was way better. I'm not gonna lie, the park was still shitty but it was way better than its been in the past.KB is meh. deff look into schuss your season pass is good for hv kb and some others i think...i should know i have one and its pretty cheap but they also hold alot of events where you can get drunk

hmmm, kinda late to this thread. shows how much I go on newschoolers since the snow went away...
congrats on choosing UB though, as long as you like the big school scene, you're going to love it. as for skiing, well, you're from New York, don't expect much.
KB's park is getting bigger and better, but with the limited snow and space every year, it's tough to get a park that competes with bigger places, but they do fine, with a few unique and technical features a year. When I'm at KB, it's basically all park, the lifts are too god damn slow to enjoy riding the rest of the mountain.
I go to Holiday to get some actual skiing in. They get a good amount of snow, and have a first class snow making system. The lifts are good, with 2 high speeds, and the runs tend to wind around a little bit and seem longer than they actually are. Holiday's parks are more traditional than KB's, but they have some good features. A lot of smaller straight rails up to some pretty big features. Right now I personally hate the hill the main park is on, it's too skinny and short. Holiday also has a half pipe, most of the time it's garbage, but when you get lucky, it's pretty damn good.

Also: My buddies just got accepted to the engineering grad school program at UB... if you take thermo dynamics and have Dargush (sp?) you should be having one of them as your TA. My other buddy will be a TA for a different professor, but I forget who it is.
Yeah UB!! I graduated from there last year and I was in Schuss all 4 years. Its a great group of people, the price is right, and winterfest doesn't suck either :)

I dont think dargush teaches thermo. Thermos pretty tough the TA they had assigned for the class back in the fall didnt know how to do anything....it suckedI'm at UB and work at KB. im goin to Penn State Behrend in Erie next semester so I'll be skiing Holiday valley too

I got to UB and ski a lot at both Holiday and KB thanks to http://www.schussmeisters.com. It's one of the best ski club's in the country without a doubt. You can take a coach bus 4 nights a week and ski some of NY's best terrain parks. Can't beat it anywhere

yea right. two spring breaks ago me and my friend got there every mourning and skied cordoroys for hours some of the best park skiing days ive ever had. IMO KB would have the better park if they new how to set up rails, they need to take care of it more and have less ride up shit. It would also be a plus if some of the people running the park werent recovering heroin addicts........this is depressing cause everyones goin to the valley. leavin us poor kb fools to ourselves...

Greeting there fellow Buffalonian resident and fuure Holiday Valley gnar shredder.. im Colt, would be stoked to ski with you. Most of the freeskiing crew at HV is dissapating but there will be a VERY few left. All my buds are going to colledge within the east, but i still plan to ski HV until the days at the foundation resides which will most likely be my senior year (2010). HV is a really amazing place if you look at it right, the park has got potential.. but your better off skiing the whole mountain and have some fun switch carving or rocking the trees when theres POW.

im going for general engineering, ill probably choose later on, how are the glades at HV, i ski at a mountain that doesn't have any glades, but theyre my favorite part about skiing if theyre legit
