Justin Dorey Jossi Wells Mike Riddle
The World Superpipe Championship stopped off in Park City UT on Saturday March 8th 2008, where Justin Dorey claimed 2nd, Mike Riddle placed 3rd and Dan Marion finished 10th. Some of the biggest names like Simon Dumont and Peter Olenick, just to name a few, were all competing for the $15,000 first place payout.
Justin Dorey
With a great crowed surrounding one of the world’s biggest and best superpipe, at 22 foot walls, Justin and Mike showed them spectacular runs with plenty of style and amplitude. The format was “best run of three”, where Justin went for it all on his first run impressing the crowed and the judges. Mikes second run was his best sliding him in to 3rd by a point over Simon Dumont. Next stop for most of these guys is The European Open and the WC finals.
Dynastar/Lange athletes put on a good show at the North American Open
Dan Marion 2nd in Superpipe, Tanner Rainville 3rd in Slopestyle, Athena Brownson 3rd in Slopestyle and Duncan Adams placed 8th in Superpipe at the North American Open in Breckenridge Colorado. Despite some weather, our Dynastar/Lange athletes had a very successful weekend
Dan, Tanner and Duncan, originally from New England, have found a home in the Summit County Colorado area giving them the opportunity train and compete in their back yard. All four of these athletes have been working very hard to fine tune there skills which seem to be paying off.
Duncan and Athena are younger athletes that have hit the freestyle world with there style and skill set ranging from big mountain skiing, racing and of course park skiing. There are many events left on the schedule, keep an eye out for all Dynastar/Lange athletes.
Dynastar Lange athlete Jesse Bryan finished 2nd this past weekend February 15th at the Subaru Squaw Valley USA Freeskiing Open. Jesse came into the final day in 2nd and managed to hold to it with two very consistent and extremely exciting runs. The level of skiing was incredibly high with athletes dropping 30-40 foot cliffs, along with technical drops and tremendously high speed skiing. The conditions were not ideal but the sun was shining and all the athletes stepped up to the plate and threw down incredible runs.
Jamie Burge, Ben Wheeler and Drew Stoecklein also had great finishes in the Squaw Valley Comp.
Dorey 4th and Marion 5th at the Jeep King of the Mountain Pro Tour
Justin Dorey finished 4th and Dan Marion finished 5th on February 10th at the first Superpipe Jeep King of the Mountain Pro Tour formally the Ski Tour in Squaw Valley California. It was an epic weekend with the sun blazing down on us in 45 degree weather and athletes skiing well.
Justin Dorey
Justin made it to the four person SUPER FINAL skiing very well with incredible amplitude and style. With the one run format mat, Justin had to lay it all on the table, unfortunately crashing at the end of his run finishing in 4th.
Dan Marion had a great weekend with consistent and smooth runs. Dan did not make it to the SUPER FINAL but was able to claim the 5th position from a very strong field.
Mike Riddle finished 6th in the Winter X-Games 12, Superpipe Finals on January 24th 2008. Mike was unable to put together a clean run under the lights in Aspen. The level of competition was the highest it’s ever been and Mike has the capabilities of placing in the top three but tonight he just couldn’t pull it together.
Next on the competition list is Slopestyle, Sunday afternoon, where Dynastar Lange has Tanner Rainville competing for the top position.
Mike Riddle and Justin Dorey descended upon Aspen Colorado to show the world their talents at the 2008 Winter X-Games. Today, January 23, 2008 was the semi-finals for the Supper Halfpipe where Justin and Mike had to qualify in to the top 10 out of 16 athletes in order to compete in the finals. Mike Riddle laid down two solid runs putting him in 5th place going into finals tomorrow January 24th.
Skier Mike Riddle
Justin Dorey had a disappointing evening, clipping the deck in the middle of his first run loosing a ski and putting tremendous pressure on the second run. Justin skied incredibly well stomping all his tricks on the final run until the last hit he came up short on a switch nine, landing on his chest which eliminated him from the finals.

Thursday the 24th 9-11pm eastern time the finals will be aired LIVE on ESPN. Check it out to see Mike Riddle compete in the biggest competition of the season.

I ended up catching up
with Todd Ligare and Rachael Burks
while in Park
City. We made our way to
Deer
Valley of all places and
had just a killer time shralping the resort. Deer Valley had no idea what hit
them; Rachael, who’s up for “Best female performer” at the
2008 POWDER Poll
& Video Awards and Todd Ligare, an up and coming athlete that has hit the
Big Mountain Freeskiing scene with great style and incredible skiing.
I was able to get
some footage of these two just doing what they do on the hill.
Happy New Year! I have been hanging in Jackson
for the past five days and the conditions have been perfect!
The Tetons
received tons of snow at the end of ‘07 and on the 1st day of ‘08 the
sun came out. I have been filming with Jeremy Jones, Schroder Baker,
and Lynsey Dyer for the new TGR film. It is good to be back in the
mountains sending it! Check out some lines from New Years Day.
