Pro rollerblader Chris Haffey on skiing:"Skiing. Well I have always wanted to get up to the snow and try to snowboard or ski, but i never got around to it. Thanks to Felix and Kato (Remz) the opportunity presented itself and I couldnt pass it up.
The first time I went up, and tried to go down the bunny hill I thought I should just give up right then. I couldnt make it 20 feet without falling over. With a little help from Jon Elliott explaining the technique, I got a little better... but still at that point I never thought I would be able to grind anything or hit any type of jump... let alone spin over it.
Fast foward to Mammoth... we had an awesome time up there skiing with JF, LP, and Jeff. Shima started to spin over things so I started trying too. Fast forward a few more weeks, and a couple season passes to Bear and I am loving it. Its become like rollerblading only faster and bigger. The tricks started to translate really quickly as soon as we got used to spinning. As for the style and what not, I might not have the best... or any at all for that matter, but I dont really care, cause im having a shitload of fun. So I dont know... thanks again Felix for opening up this world to me... I cant get enough of it. by the way... I still love rollerblading. Haha! In fact, since I started skiing I have been having a lot more fun everytime I go skate. Im not really sure why...it might be because im skiing so much that when I go skate its because I really want to go skate, and not just using it as something to do. So if anyone was worried Im going to abandon rollerblading, there is no chance that will ever happen."

Video Description:
Featuring the world takes you on a trip showing you a true international look on skating with top skaters from around the world. Two main filmers travelled the world to capture the best skating and for this dvd we had three major tours to ensure you the cream of the crop. The Japan tour featured Alex Broskow, Jeff Stockwell and Jeromy Morris matching it up with Japan's finest including Chiaki Ito and many more. Several weeks of unreal skate spots and a cultural clash are captured throughout the dvd. Mike Choley then packed his bags and flew further to Australia to meet up with Richie Eisler to embark on a week long tour of Australia with top Australian skaters. There they found it all: old stars from Australia, the up and coming skaters from Australia, wildlife, parties and all that Australia stands for. Off we went to Europe to embark on a mission to the Roskilde Festival, one of the biggest music festivals to feature skating and show it to the masses. The tour was joined and supported by Mike Murda Johnson, Brian Aragon, Sean Kelso, Stefan Horngacher and Chino who then ripped Europe's finest spots. Of course we additionally worked on content around the world. Richie Eisler filmed both in Australia and Canada for his profile. Dominik Wagner filmed during another tour to Roskilde and throughout Europe for his profile. And we filmed the main content for Be-Mag print giving you the clips from Jeff Stockwell's epic interview in issue 23. If you want a dvd that shows you the best skating in new surroundings with your favourite pros and coming new talent then this is the dvd you need to get. Additionally to the skating part we added special documentary portions as bonus sections where you see a Japan Documentary, a documentary on the Roskilde tour and a special Horseman section.
running time: 1 hour 30 minutes +
countries filmed in:
USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Colombia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Canada
Agreed. Just because hating on rollerblading is "cool" doesn't mean skiers have to get in on it too. We are just as lame as rollerblading!! But that's why both sports are so great, we just do what's fun and don't give a shit.
Jonkreation, here is Eric Pollard's twin brother who rollerblades, Robert Guerrero. They both have the same type of outlook on their sport (solid style over gnarly, but often a combination of the two), both are deep thinkers, and they're both goofy guys. Every time I watch a Pollard section I think of Rob's style, and every time I watch a section of Rob's I think of Eric's style.
I proudly present to you the work of the guy we fondly call Rob G. Filmed at the coolest place on earth, Lake Owen.

props to these cats for having fun, but THIS JUST FUCKING PROVES that there are skiers out there right now who are pros, who aren't really that good.
what you ask?
these 2 guys decide to fuck around with skiing since the blade. and they are killing it their first year, and that is cause they are dope bladers.
now let us think of those skiers who have rollerblade backgrounds who are killing the park scene. i'm not talking about all pro's, but it all comes back to being able to actualy make turns and understand how a ski works for you, and then skiing park too.
Don't think somebody is SICK!!! untill you see them ski all over the mountains in all conditions.
So it should be no surprise that pros of rollerblading that have been doin it forever should have no problem with skiing.
Dude, try their first THREE MONTHS! mofo....that must be the quickest progression ever in history?
props to them

Just because you can find similarities between the two sports doesn't make either one better. It's not saying one is progressing or influencing the other, or that one should act like the other. It's just calling out that there are obvious similarities between the two, and because of that it's possible to work off of those and create something new in your respective sport. Again, it's not a 'bad' or a 'good' thing, it just is.
I'm happy that 'extreme' sports are beginning to get past the hype and "your sport is gay" bs. It's sooo much better when we're all having fun. Later, I'm gonna go skate!
