So my little sister, Steve, and I thought it would be fun to go explore some cliffs just outside of Madison that I know about. Well actually I just thought it would be fun, and I didn't really tell them where we were going until they were surrounded by cliffs with no way out except to scramble through extremely thick thorns on a sheer cliff face to get out. As it got dark, a storm rolled in and as we were becoming completely soaked and covered in mud and thorns, clinging to edges of cliffs trying to climb to safety became more and more of a challenge.

As we walked away in triumph from the cliffs down a narrow path, I almost stepped on 3 little baby birds that had been abandoned by their mother. They were totally soaked, barely breathing, and laying motionless on the ground. We picked them up and nursed them back to life in the warm car as we drove home. After some food, water, and a warm light bulb in their fish tank, they were good as new. My friend Alex Applegate came over and informed us that they were Killdeer, a somewhat rare marshland bird that scurries around very quickly in search of bugs.

The DNR advised us to release them back where we found them, so the next morning we were off to let our little friends go.

Later that day (our last day in Wisconsin) my buddy Steve and I met up with my family who drove from Virginia to hang out for a couple days. Since it was also my birthday, we decided to do something fun, like canoeing on the Wisconsin River.

The next morning we packed up and began the drive to Colorado.

Man, I missed Colorado sun sets.

With rainbow overhead, we stopped by Volkl rider Jon Cyrulik's house.

He showed us some fancy moves on his skateboard.

After that we thought we would go say hi to Dan and Chris, the guys at the Liberty Skis headquarters.

And thus brings us to this episode of CRIBS, hosted by yours truly, David Lesh.
