Crested Butte

Has anyone ever skied the run, rambo, at crested butte?

I've been hearing that its the steepest trail inbounds in the US but I haven't skied it.

just wondering if anyone has/what they think.

I've skied it and yes its damn steep. Every time you make a jump turn you fall vertically about 8 feet. Its covered in rocks, stumps, and bushes, which are about the only thing that keeps snow on it.

the run is so steep it gives the average skier vertigo. so beware.

when i went there it really wasnt that bad. but maybe it was just cause they had so much snow

ahahaha dont kill yourself when you go out there for break. falling on big steep stuff out west can have legit serious consequences, especially if the snow isnt super soft. one small edge catch leads to an uncontrolled slide down a 50 degree face into rocks and trees.

but remember to charge it, cause you will be heckled mercilessly if you ski it timidly.

but on a more serious note, it's steep and usually has a fair amount of sharks. Skied it lots last year with our tremendous snow year and it was mellow, this year...not so much. Actually now that i'm writing this, is it even open from NFL?

Got a little bit of history to ad to this one. Its actually "the steepest CUT run" in the US. It was originally cleared to be part of a lift that was never built to link east river back to Paradise.

Yeah Rambo is way steep. Since it's just rocks and bushes, it has pretty crappy conditions because with our continental snowpack, there is nothing for the snow to really adhere to. I

I've skied birds of prey a month after the race was held there. scary stuff because the brink is so steep.

was just curious as to if rambo made it look like a bitch or not haha

also there's a lot better runs on CB then that.. rambo's only fun if you straight line it.

You must not ski from the top above the brink then because anyone that has only a couple weeks after the world cup would agree on how steep the top section is.. They do hold the world cup races there for a reason you know..

lol, they hold it there because it makes a good course. damn, you should really be careful out in CB if you are thinking anything on a downhill course is super steep.

where else out west have you skied? you very well could have a great frame of reference for what is legit steep, but you wont get that frame from back east...or from beaver creek.
